Might be to do with gambling websites, if they get it out before the gambling websites see it then people could get a guaranteed bet if they have lightning reflexes perhaps.

This seems to be a decent reason for a short bit of a delay.

Fans could post them instead though.

Is that why in Rileys today the results from other games came up like 5 minutes after it was scored.

They could but fans are often not 100% trustworthy and yes do sometimes lie about goals.

Definately with an atomic clock, they are usually accurate within 1 second.
