Wayne Rooney at least had some good news from his trip to Switzerland as UEFA reduced his international suspension to two games at a hearing in Nyon.
The striker was unable to prevent United from slipping out of the Champions League with a shock defeat to Basel but attended his appeal hearing on Thursday morning and received a positive result.
The FA argued that the initial three-match punishment was harsh after he was sent off for kicking out at Montenegro's Miodrag Dzudovic in the final group qualifier.
Rooney will be available for the clash against Ukraine on 19 June but still misses the matches against France and Sweden in the Euro 2012 finals.
UEFA announced that the third game of the original ban is now suspended for four years, to be activated if the Reds star is sent off in another England match. Rooney will also undertake some coaching in the community, according to a spokesman for the governing body.

In all honesty this wont make a slight difference to England they will still fail to achieve anything.

No thank you, I'd much rather have Sturridge playing for us than Rooney.

We can do well without him. But his inclusion in the squad is a certainty now and I just know Fabio will take Zamora/Bent over Defoe. Because, strikers will be Rooney, Welbeck, Sturridge +1.

England shall win the whole thing now. Rooney to prove his critics wrong.

FA are weird. One day they are charging Liverpool for having a few players crowding a referee, the next they are appealing against a fair ban for what is essentially an on field assault.
I'd like to see us do well in Euro 2012 but I think Rooney did deserve a 3 game ban, having him back for the last group game will probably make no difference.

Shocking from the FA, but now it will be good to see others getting their bans reduced in the Premiership from now on.

Re: Rooney ban reduced
This was the wrong decision. Why was the ban reduced? There was no reason to reduce it, as his offence was worthy of a 3-match ban. I have no idea why they did this.

But if the FA feel that Rooney's ban deserved a two match ban, then they're bound to be lenient with other shocking offences that probably also deserved three match bans. Shouldn't that just make it even worse for you?
