CELTIC Football Club would like to pass on their congratulations to
Santos Laguna, along with their best wishes, after they reached the
Mexican Apertura Championship Final.
The Albiverdes beat Morelia
3-2 in the second-leg of the play-off semi-final on Saturday to seal
their place in the championship showpiece.
With the aggregate scores tied at 4-4, Santos qualified, having finished higher in the league standings than their rivals.
The Torreon-based side will meet either Tigres UANL or Queretaro in the final.
Celtic
and Santos, who are one of Mexico´s largest football clubs, have
developed strong bonds since forming a partnership earlier this year.
The
exciting arrangement allows the exchange of a range of ideas which
benefit the footballing and commercial dimensions of both clubs.
Very
importantly, the partnership also features joint charitable activity,
assisting a range of people in need across Scotland, Mexico and beyond.
I applaud you Celtic FC.
Although I have to disagree with calling Santos Laguna one of the biggest clubs in Mexico, they certaintly have a good fanbase and have had some really good squads the last few years but I wouldn't call them one of the biggest sides.
