Villa: Alex McLeish will now be desperate for his side to consolidate a place in the top half of the table and has called for 'controlled aggression' against United.The manager has been boosted by the news that skipper Stiliyan Petrov is available once again. The Bulgaria international missed the draw at Swansea with a hamstring problem but has resumed training. Fellow midfielder Stephen Ireland is also in contention after missing the trip to Wales with a foot injury suffered in training. Defender Eric Lichaj (hip) remains the only long-term casualty.
United: Ferguson felt he had to apologise to supporters for the mid-week performance and, having rested several senior players, is set to revert to his first-choice starting XI for the trip to Villa. Brazilian twins Rafael and Fabio, as well as Dimitar Berbatov, had to go off injured against Palace and all three will miss this weekend's match. Anderson, Michael Owen and Tom Cleverley are sidelined for United, but the likes of Wayne Rooney, Hernandez, Nani and Nemanja Vidic are expected to slot straight back in. Ashley Young is also in contention to feature against the team he left in a big-money move over the summer.
