17p to text abroad

Apparently. I've just seen my bill and for the 1 text I sent my dad in America, it charged 17p. Seems rather cheap.

It's not cheap at all, text messaging is a massive fucking scam which should be illegal, it is basically free for the network to send them.

Don't listen to him, if you try to use that abroad you'll get absolutely screwed by data roaming costs.

I believe there have been some legal challenges recently that have lead to them being reduced. It certainly used to be a lot more than 17p even to text from Ireland.

I don't want to use it abroad. I just want it to text from the UK abroad.

If the other person has an iPhone the text is sent through iMessage.
