Childish Gambino - Camp

Childish Gambino is releasing his new album, Camp. This is his first album that's going to be available on iTunes. So I guess he is going pro, especially since this album is with a record label. It's officially coming out Nov 15, but all the songs are already out on YouTube...

The following are my favorites (out of the ones I heard so far)...

They played Bonfire on Radio 1, it won some competition thing. They said he's also a comedian so it's sort of tongue in cheek.

He's a comedy writer but it's not tongue in cheek rap, he's pretty decent, will probably download it when it comes out.

He's pretty similar to Hodgy/Tyler/Earl very good though/

He is a writer (wrote for the show 30 Rock)
He is a rapper (but he is a serious rapper. He released 7 albums/mixtapes already)
He is an actor (on the show Community)
He is a standup comedian
He apparently also makes his own beats

There's definitely some tongue in cheek in both of the songs ahly posted. Not saying it's a joke rap, just some of the lines are.

My favourite song of his. Anyone who listens to him should give his voice a little time to grow on you because ahly and me used to make fun of his voice. Now he loves him

Yeah When dena first introduced me to him, he showed me "Bitch, look at me now". I thought it was awful and it didn't really go with the "Two Weeks" sample. But then I gave him another chance when I listened to "Freeks and Geeks". I loved it. His voice is so much better than it was on his old albums (especially Sick Boi and Poindexter).

I also appreciate the song "Bonfire" more now. When I first heard it, I watched the music video. It brought my attention away from the sick lyrics. My favorites...

4 songs in, I'm feeling it. Crazy how rap has expanded recently, this album would've never been put out a decade ago.

I think that the rap scene a decade/15 years ago was really restricted, if you didn't have a certain style you weren't getting play. That's changed.

I'm listening to the previews of the clean version of the album on iTunes and every other verse is censored.
