Any chance any of the nations involved in the first round actually qualify for the World Cup or is this just to weed out the very worst teams?

I highly doubt it. If Adebayor can carry Togo again, then maybe. Congo DR used to be a decent team, but I don't know what happened to them over the past 4 years.

Didn't Adebayor retire from international play or something?

Yeah, he did. It was because of the attack on the Togo national team's bus during the African Cup of Nations.

I thought he changed his mind. I can't remember anymore. Adebayor has quit and returned to the national team so many times.

So his location is Switzerland so maybe he is looking for a repeat 14/12/1988 when Switzerland beat Egypt 1-3 in Cairo.

Kenya have a good midfield with Mambo Mumba and Mariga, a good striker in Oliech and a good defender in Wanyama and I will be serious here, I cannot name one Seychelles player.

I'm sorry, that was a typo. It should be 7-0 to Kenya.

I read that the Ghana match was delayed for quite a long time due to floodlight failures. Egypt played their match behind closed doors. It must have been odd to play a match in an empty 86,000 seater stadium.

Yeah. It's a really nice stadium, but it was a shame to see it so empty. You could hear Bob Bradley clearly shouting his touchline instructions. Laughing

He is doing well against the weaker teams (which has hurt Egypt in the past). Let's see if he can get the results against the tougher opponents like Egypt used to.

Yeah, especially Egypt. Every other nation played their first leg already last month or the month before that. But Egypt's first leg was delayed until June. So we are playing 4 official matches this month...

Central African Republic have secured their first-ever World Cup qualifying victory after beating Botswana 2-0 on Saturday.

The Wild Beasts, who meet Egypt in the CAN 2013 qualifiers this month, were inspired by a brace from striker Foxi Kéthévoama.

It is only Central African Republic’s second ever competitive win, having stunned Algeria 2-0 in the CAN 2012 qualifiers in 2010.

The big result leaves Herve Loungoundji’s side on top of Group A, which also includes South Africa and Ethiopia.

    Kenya 0-0 Malawi
    Central African Republic 2-0 Botswana
    Cameroon 1-0 Congo DR
    Gambia 1-1 Morocco
    Sierra Leone 2-1 Cape Verde
    Ivory Coast 2-0 Tanzania
    Sudan 2-0 Zambia
    Tunisia 3-1 Equatorial Guinea
    Senegal 3-1 Liberia
    Burkina Faso 0-0 Congo
    Algeria 4-0 Rwanda

Egypt have a tough and important away fixture tomorrow against Guinea. If they can beat them, then we have a good chance of going to the World Cup playoffs. Guinea will be the toughest opposition in our group.
