St.Ledger, Barton Among Departed



Sean St.Ledger was the key player to depart from Preston North End this summer, along with young starlet Adam Barton.

Irish international St.Ledger joined Newcastle United for £2.3 Million, whilst teenage midfielder Barton has moved to Peterborough United for £500k + add-ons, plus a 50% sell-on clause. He will link up with the manager who gave him his professional debut, Darren Ferguson.

Paul Parry has been given a free transfer out of the club, Chris Brown has signed for Coventry, defender Neal Trotman has joined Crewe and young full-back Sam Hart has joined Kidderminster on loan.

Six New Signings, Not One Penny Spent



The Npower League One season kicks off in a few days, and here is a round-up of Preston North End's transfers.

The Lilywhites haven't spent a penny so far but have still managed to pick up 6 new players. Phil Brown has loaned in defender Steven Caulker and Paul Jose M'poku from Tottenham Hotspur.

Four other free agents arrived, a controversial one in former Blackpool left-back David Carney, young Congo left-back Luc Matutu, formerly of Brighton & Hove Albion, another controversial signing in ex-Burnley centre-midfielder Kevin McDonald, and 31-year old attacking midfielder Youssef Mokhtari, who has previously played in the Bundesliga for FC Koln.

North End kick off their League One campaign against Charlton Athletic this Saturday.
