Like most people have said girls spend a lot of time copying others and celebrities, if one girl (doesn't necessarily have to be famous) who happens to be 'popular' decides to do something, the majority will follow.

Some girls actually like having 'slag' attached to their reputation for whatever bizzarre reason.
