Mustangt125 wrote:This may be a very complicated answer but I don't understand how so many claim a legitimate claim to the throne?
How do Stannus and Renley claim it? Who is there dad? how does the dragon queen think its hers too/ Technically there should only be one person to claim the throne....Baratheons are stewards not kings (Like Boromir's dad in LOTR as I understand it)
Robb Stark and Snow have no claim.
Robert Baratheon won the throne by defeating the Targareyan king. At that point, either him or Ned Stark could have claimed the throne, but the latter was happy with dominion over the north, like stewardship. Stannis and Renley are the brothers of Robert, while Joffrey isn't actually of Robert's blood so they feel their claim is the strongest. The dragon chick is the grandchild of the Targareyan king so wants to reclaim what is hers. Robb doesn't want the throne.

Ah great explanation, did you write the books or something?
So Joffrey is Cercei's kid but not from Robert? He has the potential to be a great character as an antagonistic King

You'll find out why he's not from Robert in season 1, so I won't spoil it all for you.

I want so many people to kill him. Right now I'd like it to be one of Jon, Robb, Arya and Jamie. The last one is just because I like Jamie, no homo.

All you need to know Mustangt is that the TRUE heir to the Seven Kingdoms and to the Iron Throne is Daenerys Targaryen. Everyone else has no legal right, especially Jeoffrey since he took the throne from Ned Stark who at the time had true legal claim.

And for Mustang's benefit, Robert was justified in taking the throne because the Targaryen known as the Mad King, was a massive prick who among other things, slaughtered Ned Stark's brother and father. Also another Targaryen killed his sister I think, so the Starks will have some massive beef with Daenerys even though she's not guilty. But what matters is whether the common people will flock to her banner.

Lies.
The Targaryen don't particularly have a bigger claim than anyone else.
True, the kingdom was taken from them....but they aren't even originally from the Seven Kingdoms. What was taken from them, they took from others before.
The part about the Iron Throne itself is perhaps true though....from what I have learnt it is the Targaryen's who built King's landing.

Re: Game of Thrones Thread
Joffrey has so much potential as a character though. It's easy to hate him but that's what great.
So in season 1 when Ned Stark got to KL why was he short toward Jamie when Jamie killed the Mad King, who killed Ned's family?
Edit: also, it's impossible for somebody from America to pick out different English accents but I like that I can at least tell there are some different ones. Are there even some Irish/Welsh/Scot accents in there at all?

The Lannisters are only it for themselves, so Ned obviously distrusts them because they are so close to the king. Plus Jaime was a member of the king's guard, and killed that king he swore to protect. And here he is again, a member of the king's guard.

Most of the accents on the show are actually Northern English accents. .Mustangt125 wrote:Joffrey has so much potential as a character though. It's easy to hate him but that's what great.

Well the thing is that as it's for an American audience so that's how it is with most British actors. If you watched an English program you'd probably notice the difference a lot easier.
Catelyn Stark is Northern Irish, that's definitely the easiest one to notice.
Petyr Baelish is Irish but he puts on an accent to cover it.
I won't search through but I'd assume there are Scots in there too...dunno about Welsh. If I thought about it whilst watching I'd definitely be able to tell. There is lots of English accents that's for sure.
Also as Jord said..quite a lot of the actors are from Northern England.

Robert's grandmother was Targarayen which is why the lords who supported him did so, outside the Targarayen's themselves he had the best claim.

The only person in this show that I hate more than Joffrey is that absolute fucking cunt who drove his spear into Boromir's knee and stopped the great contest.
