RNG is dumb, I could really care less if my pokemon is 'legit'. It's a piece of data on a game cartridge.

So how is it dumb again? Your random comment makes no sense.

You don't. Snapshottin doesn't work on NDS emulators. You can do it with gameboy games like pokemon emerald though.

It's dumb because it's an extra chore for you do do, taking hours, when I can get any guy I want in 5 minutes.

    Doesn't take hours.

Not a big fan of cheats and cheating hardware either.

Legitimacy is always the best option, regardless of what the task/object/etc is.

Sure if you want to just 'dick around' since you'll be restarting the game over and over and don't plan on doing anything with the Pokes, etc.. AR is fine to mess with..

But no one wants hacked shit, just how it is around the Pokemon community.

Plus, a lot of people are scared and unable to understand RNG, so they avoid it. Boo hoo.

    Random Number Generator

    http://www.smogon.com/forums/showthread.php?t=83057

Basically, every Pokemon game has the same software and programming.

So, in example, every time on 6/25/2012 at 14:34:52 in a patch of grass, the exact same Pokemon, shiny/or non, nature, level, IVs, will show up at that patch.

You download an independent program that has all the information required, have to sync your game file and ds to that program, to get the results you want and find the specific pokemon.

Hard to explain, but link provided is the main thread about it.

    It's quite fun, imo.

RNG is just as bad as cheating.

It's basically abusing intricate knowledge of the game's random number generator to obtain perfect Pokémon in very little time, whereas it would take days, possibly weeks, for an honest trainer to achieve the same. I find it to be just as bad a shortcut as using a cheating device, and no more justifiable. You want a good Pokémon, you put in the friggin' time and effort.

We're not supposed to know about how the game mechanics work, especially things they don't explicitly tell us. Exploiting the knowledge that dirty hackers and cheaters obtain is really pretty sickening, honestly. Just play the game the way it was meant to be played.

RNG is freaking impossible on Firered. I just searched it up and all I picked up is that it is very hard and very confusing to do.

Atm, I have a Venusaur and an Excadrill. Good team, but with a vunerablility to Ice. I am thinking of getting a solid Steel type, maybe a Metagross and a good Fire type (between Charizard and Blaziken)

I've already beaten the game before, so I am here to have fun. If I will cheat on my way, so be it.

I don't really find it cheating though, because all it is is a time saver. If you don't do it you can still achieve the desired effect just as you said, it could take weeks.

I'm okay with cheating in game, it does not affect anybody else but cheating perfect pokemon for online play is stupid. When I go online all I see are perfect pokemon, normal trainers that don't like to cheat to get perfect IVs, Natures etc and all that shit can't even play online.
