Elephant (2003) - 6/10.
This film is a visual account of the columbine shootings. It offers no explanation for the disaster but suggests feasible causes. Editing is used sparingly and extended tracking-shots enable the viewer to follow diverse characters, simply watching the tragedy unfold. The director deserves credit for identifying and analysing pain, even if he doesn't examine the event itself.

The Dark Knight Rises - Finally got around to watching it. I thought it was pretty good. Tom Hardy stole the show for me, as Bane. Great performance, especially since most of his face was hidden. There were some aspects of the film that irritated me a bit though.

I thought the pacing was a bit off in TDKR, and the end was poorly done. It had plenty of good points though, which is why I thought a 7 was fair.

Django unchained - 8/10
Didn't think I'd like it but massively surprised. Christoph Waltz is brilliant again just as he was in Inglorious Bastards. Really good story, and action. There's some hilarious scenes as well, one with some KKK masks in particular.

- Just the way that they built Bane up for the whole movie and then they swapped to a different villain and killed Bane off all in the space of about 90 seconds. Batman didn't seem to have enough time - a couple of minutes - to get the bomb at least 6 miles away, and no-one seemed to be bothered about possible radiation. Instead of Talia risking her life by protecting the bomb I don't know why she couldn't have just flooded the reactor remotely to start with. She dies, whereas Gordon climbs out the back unscathed. Her death scene was hilarious. It just felt rushed and a little confused to me.
There were points throughout the whole film that defy normal logic.
