GAME "has two weeks to turn its fortunes around" Empty GAME "has two weeks to turn its fortunes around"

Embattled high street shop GAME "has two weeks to turn its fortune around", according to a new report.
Senior members of the GAME management have been told administration is possible, MCV claims.

The UK trade publication said the first step in this process is the firesale Eurogamer reported on earlier today.
GAME launched a Spring Clean promotion today, offering games, hardware and accessories at heavily discounted prices.

MCV said this was an effort to keep the company alive - something we've heard from our own sources.

GAME has struggled to stock new titles in recent weeks, including the biggest game of the year so far: Mass Effect 3. That omission could cost GAME Group £2.5 million in lost profit.

US giant GameStop reportedly wants to buy GAME's shops in Spain and Portugal - a total of 288 stores. Apparently GAME put its 663-stores overseas operation up for sale by appointing advisers at Rothschild in January.

We understand GameStop is one of a number of companies looking at the struggling shop. Last month GAME managed to convince its syndicate of lenders, led by Royal Bank of Scotland, to relax its debt covenant. But sources said it was running out of patience.

GAME said it does not comment on rumour or speculation.

Shame, will have to buy from Supermarkets or online for me now. I don't see why Gamestop would take over. They can't compete with supermarkets now.

There are some excellent deals in there at the moment - Pre-owned PS3 for £100, PSP for a tenner.

They'll probably make a fuck load in their last couple of weeks though with some of these deals.

Retail shops have to be cheaper than the web to survive, since you don't get anything but smug service there. GAME in Denmark haven't made any changes but even that confuses me. Fifa Street costs 499 dkk in the shop, 399 online, save 10£ by not going to their shitty store? Laughing

The web is almost always cheaper the only ones that can compete are the big electronic stores that can afford to use the cheaper release day games as "bait" to get people in the store.

Video game store chains are a thing of the past, a local shop is thriving here but they have people with opinions on games and take on repairs on Xbox and PS3 that are out of the guarantee. Not seemingly empty shells that will send your console to the respective repair-shops for an unreasonable fee when its after the 2-3 year period.
