What's the point in watching commercials? Is it an American thing?

As if every leader in the world is gonna see the words World Peace written in Madonna's half time show and go, yea, actually, lets just stop shooting each other.

It's just superbowl commercials are almost all new commercials. Generally they are pretty funny and creative and not like regular commercials.Britfag wrote:What's the point in watching commercials? Is it an American thing?

The adverts are watched by so many people and cost so much money that the companies usually put loads of effort in to make it funny/entertaining so people talk about it and pay attention. Usually they do make a lot of good ones.

Wouldn't commercials be on in the US? Probably BBC's way to buy some time till their commercials endayvee1 wrote:What's the deal with this big montage on bbc? Can they not be bothered talking about the game anymore?

Touchdown... If Giant's don't respond next drive with at least a decent drive it will probably kill their chances in this game if Brady keeps this up.

I don't really understand the whole 'draft' thing. I know it's not just in NFL.

Re: Super Bowl XLVI (February 5, 2012)
Just checked the BBC coverage, I love the older American guy on there.
I was watching him on channel 4 once and he had a goofy looking hat on and looked chuffed with it, then the other presenter said in a snide way that people on twitter thought he looked stupid and as a result he took it off in the break, for some reason that seemed tragic as fuck to me.

He's the QB so yeah. Unless they keep on doing rugby style passes, but that almost never happens.

The worse you do in the year, the higher pick you get. Basically every college player is entered into it and you get to pick which one will join your team. It's a good way of balancing the good and bad teams, because the bad teams get the best players out of college.

Re: Super Bowl XLVI (February 5, 2012)
Basically College players make themselves eligible for the NFL entry draft. The team with the worst record in the NFL will get the first pick in the round the draft, as they are the worst team so it balances it out. The first place team will get the last pick in the round as they are the best team. The draft goes on for x amount of rounds (x depends on the sport).ayvee1 wrote:I don't really understand the whole 'draft' thing. I know it's not just in NFL.

Re: Super Bowl XLVI (February 5, 2012)
If you're asking if Brady is the only one allowed to pass, yes. The quarterback is the only person allowed to pass the ball forward, anyone else can lateral the ball (ie. rugby pass) when they have it. The quaterback can only pass the ball forward behind the lime of scrimmage (where the ball is hiked/where the ball started).Eternal Witcher wrote:Is only Brady allowed to pass?
If you're asking if he's allowed to run, yes he is but generally he doesn't. Most quaterbacks don't run very often, only to catch the defense off guard. The half-back/running back does most of the running. Some quaterbacks do run regularly.
