You're saying Brady hasn't been elite since 2004? I don't know what your definition of elite is, but it must be pretty fucked up if Brady hasn't been in that category.

In the postseason? No. The first half of Brady's career was that he was a very good regular season QB, nothing too stats crazy, and became a beast in the post season. Now the roles are reversed and he looks like Peyton Manning (beast in regular season, fades in playoffs) prior to this year he had been a one and done two years in a row. They got smacked by Baltimore two years ago and then we got them () last year.

The Pats haven't had the defence they had when they won their 3. They depend on Brady much more now than they did back then. What I think that boils down to is that Brady got a little bit more credit than he deserved back then and a little bit more of the blame than he deserves now.

You didn't say postseason.
Still, I don't think number of superbowls necessarily shows how good a player is. It can all be a bit of a lottery. Some of the best QBs ever have had no rings, Dan Marino to name one, and some really shitty have got one, like Trent Dilfer.

Quarterback in the NFL is the most tenuous position in all of sports. If you win, you get all the credit. If you lose, you get all the blame. In terms of how a QB's career will be assessed, what he does in the post season will dwarf what he does in the regular season even though he will play far more regular season games than post season games. It's treacherous territory.

I find winning the superbowl a lot less impressive when the players reveal it was because of Jesus.
Basically it seems that Jesus just wins it every year, you think he'd get sick of it by now.

That really doesn't make sense tbh.
Wouldn't Jesus be pretty neutral? He can't just pick random teams to win the superbowl every year.

Do realise it's about personal fulfilment more than anything. Doesn't determine or favour results.

Obviously not, they all seem to thank him so he must pick sides.

If that is the case, we may have to prepare for a string of Denver championships in the near future.Zzonked wrote:Jorlung wrote:That really doesn't make sense tbh.

It would take a miracle I suppose.

whyd they let them score instead of take a field goal? to leave themselves enough time?

Re: Super Bowl XLVI (February 5, 2012)
That early safety call really ruined the game since they Giants would have been down by four needing a touchdown and a possible epic goal line stand to end the game. When it comes to a penalty that leads to points if the ref is not completely sure it should not be called. While it looked like Brady threw to no one it could have been a busted route or something stupid. It was a good game but right now it seems slightly tainted.
While the safety call looks bad now it probably could have went either way.
