He's fantastic but he has no chance of getting elected, I'm afraid.

I feel like he's a racist under the surface and for that reason alone I could never like him or his policies.

Re: Ron Paul 2012
Libertarianism and racism are pretty much mutually exclusive. You must be basing that opinion entirely on those newsletters that came out in his name. He's addressed those time and time again. He's done nothing while in office to suggest he's a racist and the viewpoints he promote are the antithesis of racism.

Re: Ron Paul 2012
Ron Paul has the best foreign policy out of all the candidates. I also like his fiscal policies. I don't agree with his social policies or the whole federal v state issue though.
Personally, I think foreign policy and fiscal policy are the most important policies when choosing a president. Also with Ron Paul, you know what you are getting. He has a consistent record and is the most honest of politicians.
Paul is doing better than expected in the voting, but I still think Romney has got this race under his belt.

I highly doubt he is racist. If anyone is racist, it's Newt Gingrich. The guy has offended so many different races and women.

He didn't say those things. It was published with his name on it without his approval. In fact, I remember recently in a debate, he was saying that black people are being discriminated against by police because they get harsher punishments than white people for drug use when both black and whites are equal when it comes to drug use.

Re: Ron Paul 2012
If that's true it would absolve him to some extent. If this was British politics I would care a lot more, but to be honest I can't be bothered researching it fully.

// Personally I still don't have a conclusive opinion on the newsletters. I don't believe he is inherently racist though on the similar grounds as Ahly was saying, what kind of racist wants to see convicted black people back on the streets?

Somebody else wrote the racist letters in his name. He said that he didn't see those particular newsletters when they went out and has since disavowed them. He admits that he wasn't a very thorough publisher at the time. He was more focused on the practice of medicine. He's admitted his mistake and disavowed the content of the letters. That's good enough for me.

A lot of people ignoring some of his more radical views, especially with regard to abolishing the federal reserve and returning to the gold standard.

He really is a genuine guy, he's a more genuine and more sincere politician than most.
He supports the constitution, without compromise.
That is something I admire.

I don't see how those two could ever be considered good ideas, but fat chance he'll accomplish those two things.Rei Andros wrote:A lot of people ignoring some of his more radical views, especially with regard to abolishing the federal reserve and returning to the gold standard.

They are actually good ideas, at least the Gold Standard. Fiat money is so flawed and part of the mess we are in.

It naturally makes sense due to the scarcity of Gold.
The fed can print paper money at will.

He is a big homophobe though, we can't ignore that. I support equality between homosexuals and heterosexuals, does Ron Paul?
