A lot of people prefer it because you can hear footsteps etc, if people are trying to sneak up on you in BF3, MW3 etc. Do you use them? If so, do you think they make a difference?

On the computer I do .
I wouldn't say it helps that much with footsteps though.....I can never really hear. I do have the sound down a bit though as I talk to people over Ventrilo

I can hear the footsteps anyway, I don't need a head set.

Just feel it adds more realism to the game-play, each to their own I suppose.

If you can get your hands on a pair of Turtle Beaches, then do so because they are truly fantastic. Planning to replace mine in the new year as a rabbit has mauled through the wires
If you play in a room with surround sound then there's no point though.

Depends how much you soundwhore.
If you turn the volume up high enough you can hear dead silence on CoD. That's what it was like on CoD4 + WaW, might still be the same, not sure. Defeats the purpose of the perk really.

They look similiar to the ones I have, but mine were £69.99
You have to pay around that if you want decent quality.

I would, but I would feel pretty weird sitting in my room talking to people unless they were mates.

Post your Battlefield 3 stats i.e. kills, deaths, kd etc
Looking for a new tv (LED Preferably)

Battlefield 3 vs Modern Warfare 3
Xbox 360 vs PS3

I had a headset which cost like £20. I didn't like using it, I think I concentrated on the sounds too much. Plus I already developed a kind of paranoid 6th sense for where people were going to come from on CoD anyway, so only the really sneaky players surprised me.

I have a head set but never use it.
I don't use headphone unless I'm in a room with other people that don't want to hear it, and then I'd just plug in the ones I use for my iPod. Rather listen to the game through my stereo speakers which are hooked up to the TV

I am actually trying to make the gaming section lively again, seen as nobody bothered with it.

I only use my headset on the computer because my room is upstairs and if it's late and I'm playing then I don't want to wake people up....but I still want to hear what's happening and talk. Also as I need to talk to people and if my speakers are on and I try to talk to them they will only hear what's coming out the speakers
Meh, it actually feels weirder when I talk to people I know to be honest. I talk to people I've never met for years and it just feels normal.
