GTA4 gets very boring after a while.
I loved sneaking into the airport GTASA and stealing helicopters/planes

I could never win the one that went around the whole state and lasted about 20mins (the one with the finish line on the strip)...was very difficult but amazingly fun.

this is very true, I actually didn't finish GTA IV until earlier this year because I got bored of it and came back to it for the sake of finishing it (I brought it when it was released).

I admit some of the online modes were fun - especially the races.

The heist missions in GTA are awesome, the bank job in GTA IV was amazing and the Casino heist in SA

I remember in that bit where you have to parachute from one building to the next I missed and fell to the ground - I then ran from the strip to the airstrip with 5 stars good times.

one of my favorite missions is the one where you fly to Liberty city in that private jet and kill some dudes, I like the idea of flying to another city just to kill some dudes in a bar

also the jet pack stealing mission

According to these lot there will be multiple characters to play as each with their own story. Its unconfirmed as of yet though. The multiplayer thing is unconfirmed but all developers run a beta before releasing a game that runs online. We don't know if they will test the beta themselves or make it a public beta.

If they released a beta then it would give away some of the characters/locations/weapons/vehicles etc.. that's something GTA never does.

EA seriously need to release beta's for FIFA though

A beta will probably only be used to test the online mode. They did one for GTA4 but it wasn't for the public. In gta4 the online mode didn't use characters from the story.

brought San Andreas off steam for $15 USD (for PC obviously)
