I think we must give Basel immense credit for tonight. The volley was of high ability, and the 2nd goal was sublime, a goal United would be proud of. The 3rd, although never a penalty, was cooly despatched.

I can't recall a time where his passing rate was below 80%. He is a great passer of the ball and knows how to keep it.

Carrick misplaces 2 passes all game and you still find fault. Laughing

It's as if slowing the play down, and keeping the ball is a crime.

Surprised that Basel came out like this away from home but it's not surprising to see United give up goals, they've been very open this year and while it accounts for entertaining games I can't remember the last time I saw their defense so exposed.

Yeah well that says alot for football then and how much its going down the drain.
How can you expect to win a game when your midfield only pass sideways ?
    Great football that.....

My friend, in all probability, that is a good thing. Would you prefer 80% of passes to go forward? Rolling Eyes It is simply not possible to do playing at the higest level, you have to pass sideways and backwards to create the space. I assure you if Carrick made made a signifiant percentage of his passes forward, it would be severley damaging to the teams results.

I don't see no problem with passing the ball sideways or backwards.. It keeps possession and there's nothing wrong with that.
A breakdown on Carricks passing tonight:
    Completed: 97%
    Attacking third: 28/28
    Long: 2/2
    Short: 19/20
    Forward: 40/41
    Backward 23/23
    Square: 13/14
    Backwards or Square: 36/37

Carrick played more passes forward today as well..

    Moscow's stats say different.

And use your brain mate, you can't make a forward pass to the strikers/widemen all the time. Laughing

Yeah thats only because he wasn't playing against a chelsea a arsenal or a decent team for that matter.
Basel played well but it was more of united having shit defence and midfield.

Seems that Man United aren't as powerful as first thought. Like Chelsea last year.
