I personally believe Brazil and Italy should be ahead of Portugal and Uruguay.

LOL...Greece woohoo...It's funny because if we played any of those other 14 teams we'd get massacred or just take a 0-0 draw with 0 shots on/off target

The fact that Greece are ahead of France, and just below Argentina makes me happy

Only team that looks out of place there is Greece. Top 20 sounds fair for them but #11? I've seen them play a few times, particularly during the World Cup, and psyroukis is spot on about them being defensive. During the World Cup, I honestly didn't see them try to score once and they sent hoof balls all match while playing ultra defensive. France, Russia, Japan and possibly Chile should be above them.

I haven't followed the Euro qualifiers that well but it seems Greece is doing somewhat well but it looks as though they are in one of the weaker groups with the only good team being Croatia.

It is a mixture of things, teams do not just drop out, or move up, like with Clubs, they have done well in the qualifiers, they are second, very close to Croatia, but I will admit, they should be about 16th.

I didn't realize that the rankings were purely based on their progress over a month...

And that is exactly where the problem is.

The Netherlands old campaigns are being taken out of consideration. If that includes a crucial victory, than their points drop.

Beating San Marino 11-0 means little. If I recall correctly, Poland's ranking actually went down the month after we beat San Marino 10-0.

Well if Spain are above Netherlands in July, then obviously something must have happened for Netherlands to go over them in August.

I assume it's because they've maintained their consistency and have garnered impressive results throughout their qualification campaign and FIFA finally remembered to include these occurrences in their rankings. We're not exactly against each other here as I believe we're both trying to point out FIFA's incompetence. All that can be really deduced from this is that the FIFA rankings don't make a damn bit of sense.

Netherlands or Germany should be #1 imo

You also have to factor that this ranking system only accounts for the last 5 years so anything that happened in August 2006 or before is now completely irrelvant.

Indeed that is correct. Now I read it only counts the last 48 months so actually anything from August 2007 and before does not matter.
