This is difficult.

It's an interesting matchup.

Barca because there's no Keane and Ruud.

They've lost on the formation already. 4-3-3> 4-4-2; Not enough support in the middle to cover Viera and Scholes. Xavi, Iniesta and Messi would of have the pair of them all over the place. Prime or no prime. Scholes can't even fucking tackle for a start, so how is he supposed retain responsibility for shutting Iniesta and Messi out? Prime or no prime. He'd be sent off in the first 10 minutes.

Ronaldo doesn't even track back or work hard for the team, Villa and Abidal would have a field day down the right against the horribly exposed Neville, prime or no prime. I suppose they would get some joy with Henry's blistering pace against Barca's high line and Shearer's expert timing of offside traps and being in the right place at the right time. But then you have to take in Barcelona's chemistry they have with each other and what not.

Conclusion: That's not a bad team by any means, but ultimately, that Barcelona team, would beat that Premier League team. I've no doubt in my mind whatsoever about that.

Yeah well matches are never won on paper just ask Hercules that. I think the question is which xi has the better overall players than who would win?

If you replaced Shearer and Ferdinand with Makelele and Campbell, the Premier League XI would have a better chance. Close match up though.

The Barca team is more than just fantastic players. It's about amazing team chemistry as well. Plus as Dena already pointed out, formation wise... 4-3-3 was bred to kill 4-4-2...

Very tough but i'm still convinced the current Barcelona team would win.

All the players of the PL team are in their prime right?
For that I'd chose them, really tough though.

I would chose the Prem team if they were in the best form of their careers for each player.

Barcelona because most of that Prem team are retired or nearing retirement added to the fact it has Henry on it as well.

Honestly; Barca would destroy that team, so would we.
