The Real Madrid dichotomy

Real Madrid is simultaneously the most interesting team in the world and the most boring team in the world.

The Interesting
They are the biggest club in the world (arguably, at least top 3 undisputed), they have the most interesting manager in the world, they have the biggest prima donna star in football and arguably in all of sport, they have a conglomeration of mega stars, not enough footballs to go around to keep them all happy, one of the best stadiums in the world, tons of history, lots of pressure, it's a pressure cooker etc.

The Boring
Yet, when you watch them play, they are fucking boring. They don't score a lot. They never get scored on. They're not a fluid offense like their Catalan rivals. I'm not a supporter but even I get frustrated watching them play. Their create chances but their finishing is fucking horrid.


It's a bizarre dichotomy.

They're going to win silverwear. Their fans won't like the way they do it, but they'll do it.

Madrid have way too much pressure on them to win everything, all the time.

It's dumb.
