safe total to not be relegated Empty safe total to not be relegated

    Post by Weather130 Mon Apr 11, 2011 8:38 am

So what does everyone think are the safe totals to beat relegation and ease any worries? Here are my ideas.
    premier league 40 pts
    championship 52 pts
    league one 52 pts
    league two 45 pts
    conference 50 pts

I think this season a team with 40 points will go down in the Premier League. It's just so tight.

    championship 52 pts

    league two 45 pts
    conference 50 pts
League 2 will require around 50 points. Burton in 22nd place have 7 games left and are on 41 points, whilst Barnet in 23rd are the form team in this division. I dont even feel Cheltenham are safe on 48 points.

footballforums.net had a good table for this sort of thing but I can't find it now. It had the minimum, average and maximum points teams have needed to stay up,get a play off spot, go up automatically and be champions.

They say 40 points for PL, but I bet if you looked at the last few seasons, you wouldnt have even needed that many

They usually say 40 points for the Premier League, but not this year. I think they'll need more.

A point a game is usually enough in the PL.

6 games to go with the bottom three on 32 (two teams) and 31 points... w/o looking at the schedule 40 should be enough. A team with 40 points right now would be 9th. So... yeah.

Ah comeon even if you pay no attention to conference you could guess better than that, just use the stuff from the other leagues towards your guess. Currently 43 pts is the same number but it will go up a bit actually most likely near 50.

Championship will be about 46-47 this season, bit lower than the normal 50. Or so i'm hoping.

Hamilton is so far behind it does not even matter. They need some sort of earth shattering event to stay up. Maybe someone above them somehow gets kicked out of the league or folds for money issue. Also maybe the First Division champion does not have a suitable field. None of this is going to happen, Hamilton is screwed. Laughing

I picked that number because that's the amount of points second from last is on Laughing. And yeah if a club folded then Hamilton would be safe, but on the stadium point, when Inverness first got promoted to the SPL we didn't have a big enough stadium, so we had to use Aberdeen's until we had a bigger one built.

52 in the Championship is way too high. You are banking on Scunthorpe (who are in 22nd) to get 14 points from 8 games.

You'll be safe with about about 46 imo. 3 that are in there now will go down.

Nunez will keep them up. Cool

Preston are doing well though and could take it to the wire. They should win their next two games but from then onwards it'll be extremely tough for them.
