Just to give you guys some hope;
Carlos Salcido, not sure if you know who he is, but he's an international footballer for Mexico and is part of the Fulham squad. Here's a bit of his life story;
His mother Flores Ruiz died of cancer when he was 9 years old, he was pretty dirt poor, all his older siblings ended up looking for a better life in the US, he was left alone with his father and worked various different jobs, as a car washer, a carpenter, a mechanic, a glassmaker ect.
Fed up with life he tried to seek the American dream like his brothers did, he failed and got deported, three times.
One day when he was playing amateur football with a group of friends in his jeans and regular tennis shoes because he couldn't afford boots or a uniform, Ramon Candelario a scout for Chivas de Guadalajara discovered him, Carlos Salcido was 20 years of age.
He skyrocketed through the Chivas ranks and soon after made his debut for the all Mexican side, and in 2005 he became the professional with the most minutes played in the world.
To make a long story short, he ended up being a starter for Mexico in 2 world cups, and has played for two of the biggest teams in their respected countries, Chivas and PSV and is now playing for Fulham.
So yeah, not too late.
