Listening to the tracks individually I was hard pressed to find a theme of the album (leaked a few days ago and everyone called it a concept album) but the first twelve tracks (non-deluxe) are a great piece of storytelling, the beats and the features go perfect with the concept. Really great project.

He's makes some good tunes. Don't half talk shite though.

Best lyricalist makes me laugh. I heard one of his songs the other day and he said he's being compared to 2pac and I actually lol'd.

This is already out there on the GOAT's albums, I mean if you look at the albums by the greatest a lot of them had a lot of shit then like 1-2 good songs. This has quite a lot and it feels like it's the only hip hop album that I can listen to throughout without wanting to change songs (not inc 'Greatest Hits')

Comparisons to 2pac are based of style to me mostly, but he's one of the best lyricists out there, his previous projects prove that and this album just enforces that. That track (Westside... feat. Jeezy iirc isn't really supposed to be a lyrical track, it's more of a flaunt, when he's storytelling it's incredible).

I don't think it's a game changer, but that's not necessarily a bad thing, the last "game changer" album in rap to me was Kanye's Graduation, because it caused a shit from gangster rap from being the popular sub-genre to a more open style of rap.

This type of album has been made before, it's like "a day in the life" type album, not a lot of risks per se but everything that Kendrick did, from beats, to features, to storytelling, to mood, etc. is executed REALLY well.

I'd probably suggest listening to it full from #1-#12 (well maybe you can skip Real, worst track on the album Neutral ) with an open ear, first time around you can't really skim through it imo because it loses context.

I dunno, depends on what you're looking for, I knew with KDot I was expecting great story telling and great lyricism, I was surprised he had a few bangers on this like Compton and Backseat Freestyle, and even a love joint in Poetic Justice, but they all flow well with the story imo.
