    You basically put the answer in the OP by asking us the gender, to ask this riddle properly you aren't supposed to ask the gender you just ask 'how is this possible'.

    Well the puzzle isn't why is this a paradox, because that's implicit (or at the very most obvious). If it doesn't shave its own beard, the barber will, which is it, so it does actually shave its own beard, but I just said it doesn't...

    The only question then is, how can we work around this? By saying 'what gender is it' you basically give us a very obvious answer, it is a woman. You've taken any riddle out of it and basically just asked people why it's a paradox.
