I feel completely dead. I think I lost 30 years of life between the Maria and Rafa matches.Ramalalaharivololona wrote:Easy. It's nearly 1 already.

Re: The tennis thread.
How many years will you lose if Murray wins the Aussie and Judy comes on court and does Vika shoulder brush and says my shoulder brush is cooler than yours.
Actually I'd probably die if that happened.

Can you be the GOAT if another player rocks you constantly? Is Roger even still considered the GOAT.

He's only the GOAT because he got all his slams in before Rafa was at the top. Rafa got all 10 of his whilst the so called GOAT was about.dena wrote:Can you be the GOAT if another player rocks you constantly? Is Roger even still considered the GOAT.
THAT'S WHY ROGER IS THE SGOAT. COME AT ME ROBYN.

Rafa's # of slams is inflated because of his Roland Garros wins. Over half of the season is played on hard courts. Rafa only has 2 hard court slams, Roger has 9, not to mention his World Tour Final wins (Roger has 5, Rafa has 0). Up until 2010, Rafa's real strength just happened to be Roger's weakness, hence the poor match up, especially on clay & the slower hard courts.
And if Rafa is supposed to be the GOAT, what about Djokovic? He owns him on every surface now. Does that make Djokovic the GOAT? No.

I win.
But seriously.. I always really see Roger as the GOAT, not only the facts but his flair.. his game is beautiful, don't get the Djokovic bit though, he had a good year.. they're one year apart in age and Rafa has 6 more slams.

Never even realised the Fed-Nadal match was on earlier, thought it'd be tomorrow. Can't be arsed with another Djokovic-Nadal final

Listen cockface.. I've never claimed to be as knowledgeable as Robyn, secondly my comments were just to get a reaction, Roger is GOAT.. Rafa knows it, I know it. And weren't you the person to start by questioning him being GOAT?dena wrote:Kyro got SHUT DOWN.

Re: The tennis thread.
So you question something.. and now admit you're a casual fan so your knowledge isn't up to Robyn's level yes? Let's say I really was questioning Roger.. why does it mean "I got shut down" or whatever shitty language you used, I've never claimed to be smarter than Robyn with Tennis, quite the opposite in fact.dena wrote:Why you gettin' all defensive doe

Re: The tennis thread.
The GOAT thing is subjective anyway. For example people who value athelticism over variety will probably prefer Nadal over Federer.
Also, I have no idea about previous generations and it's impossible to compare players from different generations. Maybe someone like Rod Laver would be the GOAT if he was playing now, who knows.
Andre Agassi made a good point that applies with pretty much every sport and said that every 5-10 years the quality of the sport goes up a gear. Not necessarily about talent, but in terms of players being more athletic, new technologies in equipment, more knowledge on things like nutrition, etc. Although IMO that's what's so impressive about Federer. Even though he's not the dominating force anymore, he's still lightyears ahead of 99% of players and has had remarkable longevity. He could probably carry on for a few more years too if he really wants to.
