AZ Alkmaar Keeper Attacked by fan.

This just happened and there no video yet. A spectator in Amsterdam ArenA got on the field and ATTACKED Az keeper Esteban with a "flying" kicking, he retaliated and kicked him after he went to the ground. The referee gave Esteban a red card and AZ walked out of the match.

Even though i am an Ajax fan, i feel that Ajax and the people responsible for security should be punished, this cannot happen, specially in a modern stadium like Amsterdam Arena where the spectators only have 1 real access point directly from stands.

Yeah Ajax should be punished imo but I didn't see it yet.

I added it, dutch friend says that the keeper might get sued hard by the idiot. If that happens i hope that Ajax gets to pay the fine.

But yeah this sort of thing shouldn't be happening in modern day football stadiums, I cant help but think the Ajax staff are to blame.

I guess its in the rules, but i don't think it was ever intended to cover attempted assault by idiotic spectator, i've seen a few red cards for players taking down idiots running on the field but they were only wasting everyones time, they guy attempted assault and Esteban reacted. My dutch friend informed me that he is suspected of having beat his wife in Costa Rica though.

Although the keeper shouldn't have reacted that way, it's harsh that it turned out like that. It's as if I could run on the pitch in a final, goad a opposition player into attacking me and then get him sent off to benefit my team.

Has either club yet released a statement?

It's obviously a red card, and AZ Alkmaar should be thrown out of the competition for refusing to compete. That goalkeeper should be facing criminal prosecution as well, that is not self defence.

Anyone remember when a similar thing happened in the prem a few year's back or am I just making that up? I'm sure it happened but can't find anything online about it

You'd imagine being kicked by someone who practices kicking everyday could be painful.
