I've only seen two of the films on that list.

The Best Picture nominations completely blow this year. Such a weak list in comparison to other years. The list is also really lacking in diversity. Even with the shocking inclusion of Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close, the list is still horrendously dull. Really disappointed in the omission of Michael Fassbender from the Best Actor list. I am yet to see Shame, but I think he deserved some recognition for having had such a great year. He and Ryan Gosling, arguably the year's break-out stars, have been completely snubbed with Gosling's Drive completely unrecognized in any of the categories including Best Supporting Actor where it seemed that Gosling's co-star, Albert Brooks, had a lock on a nomination. Only remotely positive thing is the nomination for Rooney Mara in the Best Actress category, even if it may have come at the expense of Tilda Swinton, hailed by many for her performance in We Need to Talk about Kevin. Not that Mara will win anyway, the Academy will almost definitely opt to give Streep her hundredth win.

Oh, and also glad to see Gary Oldman get his first ever nomination. Shocking to see that someone as talented as him and with a career as distinguished as his had never previously been recognized by the Academy.

Hoping for any surprise whatsoever tonight but it's highly unlikely. Happy for Christopher Plummer who wins Best Supporting Actor.

The Artist doesn't win Best Original Screenplay. I'm not sure if that makes it more or less likely that it'll win Best Picture. They usually use the screenplay awards to honour the other films that aren't going to win Best Picture.

An Irish winner, nice.

Haznavicius wins Best Director. The Artist has this in the bag.

Best Actor coming up, please award it to Oldman.
