Joel Campbell scored against Spain
He's also one of the nominees for the young player award along with Wilshere and Chamberlain.

I don't hate Gervinho at all. He is always threatening and is as good at dribbling as a mental patient, im just rueing where we could be had he taken some of his chances better. If his first touch improves he will be a beast.

How did he play in more games than expected? You don't spend £10M on a defender to have him sit on the bench. Especially when our only class central defender was Vermaelen. That being said, the same applies to Gervinho. Its his first season in top flight football in England and he too has been tossed in the deep end. He is expected to contribute to us scoring goals and add creativity following the large departures of Nasri and Fabregas. If anyone has more pressure it would be Gervinho over Laurent when you look at first seasons.

The comparisons are valid in many ways. I am comparing Gervinho to Henry in his initial season at Arsenal when fans used to boo him for missing chances and it wasn't even guaranteed that he would be with us after that first season. A lot of supporters did not fall in love with Thierry when he first joined the club and that is much like what Gervinho is facing presently. The only difference is that Henry was playing striker and Gervinho hasn't been converted and is playing his natural position.

A lot of players look down at the ball when they are dribbling, so I don't really see how you can make it seem as they he is the only one that does it.

Schennikov of CSKA has won that by miles. A big Russian internet campaign got every one to vote for him. He has 62% where the nearest competitor is Rodriguez from Porto with 17%.

Statistically he is very good but people on here say he's not very good? Idk I only watch him on youtube but he looks much better than any of our strikers bar RVP.

I have watched him play twice and I have watched all his goals on YouTube. He is definitely better than Chamakh and he's probably better than Park, the only bad thing is that he has a habit of running into trouble but he's still only 23 so has got lots of time to improve.

Would be a great back-up player for RVP but he's too good to sit on the bench imo.

WTF do Man City want him for, they have enough players. I would like him at Arsenal and it would be great because Wenger could offload Squillaci then.

Vertonghen would be fanatstic, can play CB/LB/CDM.

He failed to score in his first 8, then went on to score 26 and get 11 assists for the season.... Also came here with a world cup and 12 caps to his name..

Man City's transfer market tactics are: Look at who Arsenal are buying, publicly state their interest hence increasing his asking price, bidding double that asking price, giving his agent obscene amounts of money and handing the player an empty cheque.

And Gervinho is a good player, I like his directness, very smart too, not a very natural goalscorer.

What exactly does having a world cup (playing with the golden generation of France's football history) have to do with similarities in their play. Both were natural wingers. Both have tremendous pace and were play makers from the outside. The main difference is that Henry was brought into be our main striker and Gervinho was brought in to be a creative force from out wide and he has done just that. Up to this point he hasn't been bad yet many of you and other people I talk Arsenal matters with expect him to be a world beater and that was never the case. He does very well in our system and links up with Robin wonderfully, and aside from those two we don't really have anyone else that comes remotely close to looking like a goal threat.

Haters gon Hate on Gervinho, I still think he's quality and has got a huge part to play in our season to come.

What exactly have you countered with that? That Henry was used as just a striker and nothing more? Ok... then I'm impressed
