Re: Liverpool FC Official Thread
You're talking about things you don't understand, please stop, it's embarrassing. What you need to remember is that the events are statistically independent of each other. Liverpool being drawn at home in any round has no influence on where you will be drawn in the next round. They are just numbers being put in an equivalent of a hat which are drawn out randomly, how could it possibly influence it which numbers were drawn out in previous rounds? Explain that to me.Scott wrote:
law of averages
—n
Compare law of large numbers (popularly) the expectation that a possible event is bound to occur regularly with a frequency approximating to its probability, as in the example: after five heads in a row the law of averages makes tails the better bet
http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/law+of+averages
Go fuck yourself RR.
If the table is fair then the odds are always 50/50 (disregarding green) regardless of how many times you play, or what previously comes up.Mustangt125 wrote:Scott wrote:From Wiki .. (yes, wiki)
Examples
Belief that an event is "due" to happen: For example, "The roulette wheel has landed on red in three consecutive spins. The law of averages says it's due to land on black!"
Only if you play an abnormally high amount of times will the law of averages come into effect. For the standard roulette player, after 3 reds, the odds of the next spin are still 50-50 for red/black.

Re: Liverpool FC Official Thread
Very dissapointed with Stoke's display today, they're usually very good at home. It would seem that they are prioritising the league and Europa league this year, while playing a mixture of first and second string in domestic cups. On the other hand I was shocked to see how serious Liverpool are in an attempt to win the league cup this year

Yes, I would 'expect' it to be tails the next time. That doesn't necessarily mean it will be tails.

My friend, what merited that type of response from my post. I gave a brief analysis of the game discussing a Stoke and Liverpool point of view, therefore no bias involved and yet you persist at insulting and mocking members of the forum Please, can we discuss the game with excellent debate?

by law of averages you would expect it to be more likely to be tails but that is false. It will always be 50/50 regardless of past events. Anyone who says other wise is stupid.

My friend, that is impossible when we have members like Scott, who possess the mental capacity of a two year old.
