True. Apparently you're looking at Marvin Martin though-I heard he's a decent player?BladeGunner14 wrote:xPeterLFC95 wrote:I don't see what Elia offers to the team that your current players can't.
He can dribble whereas Walcott can't.

Produced 17 assists in Ligue 1, very impressive number.

Apparently some guy left in 2010, so he became a more central figure after that?

You know there's alot of talk that we have agreed terms with Hazard.. how would we be allowed to do that if Lille don't want to sell him?

Horrible comparison.
This guy has 1 great year and all of the sudden he's going to be class? Let's come back to this question next year and see how he does. Back to a 2/4 season? Mhm.

It baffles me how people can't understand stats don't always show how good a player is. I thought this was Marvin Martin's first season as a starter which will explain increased stats.
Martin (I didn't watch huge amounts of Ligue 1) seemed very good. He can pick out good passes etc. He wouldn't be as good as Fabregas straight away but he couldn't definatly give you some creativity.

He's only like 22. There are countless instances where players only show glimpses of promise and then turn into class players under a good coach. I'd rather we buy him now for a low price instead of wait until he's world class and playing for Real Madrid.

Don't be so naive. If you want a player you discuss a deal with his representatives before actually bidding for him.

You're not allowed to discuss anything with the player without the clubs permission.. why would they give us permission if they don't want to sell.ResurrectionRooney wrote:Chris wrote:You know there's alot of talk that we have agreed terms with Hazard.. how would we be allowed to do that if Lille don't want to sell him?

They did give us permission to talk. I think Rennes did also but the M'Villa stories have died down a bit today.Chris wrote:You're not allowed to discuss anything with the player without the clubs permission.. why would they give us permission if they don't want to sell.ResurrectionRooney wrote:Chris wrote:You know there's alot of talk that we have agreed terms with Hazard.. how would we be allowed to do that if Lille don't want to sell him?

Then if permission has been granted.. they are willing to make a deal.
Which means, Chris wins.

Elia's better than Gervinho if that's what you're trying to say?
Going for Hazard, ending up with Elia. Is what I'm trying to say.
Oh no that happened with Gervinho, I'm throughly convinced until proven wrong
Don't like his style and I actually think Wenger chose him instead of Hazard because he was cheaper. Come on now, Gervinho near Nasri's level? fuck that

Hmm.. I posted something but it didn't post it. Anyway, here is what it should have said:
I don't like his style either actually, but it isn't his fault Wenger chose him over Hazard, it's Wengers. Gervinhos just come in, and has played alright so far even though he's adapting still. But yeah I agree he's not near Nasri's level, but if we do end up signing Hazard as well, then I think Gervinho is an improvement on Walcott so it's all good.

From what I understand Wenger showed interest in both, Gervinho really wanted to leave Lille for Arsenal whereas Hazard already said during the season he would like to stay at least another year, plus he has a long-term contract.Fonseca wrote:Chris wrote:Why you hating on Gervinho so much when every game he plays he's by far the best player?Fonseca wrote:justaddfinesse wrote:Fonseca wrote:

I don't get the Gervinho hate and the dislike of his style, he's pretty much the only one who regularly takes players on, good link-up play and a decent end product, obviously I'd still have preferred Hazard.
I wouldn't really like Elia, had a really poor last season with HSV and is struggling atm just like his club. New club can be a new beginning though

For some reason, whenever I see him take on a player it looks like an accident and he seems clumsy, even though I know he has quite quick feet and that's why he can beat players.

Pretty sure Hazard's just waiting for bigger things but that wouldn't exactly stop him from moving, Hazard said he didn't really mind who he played for and said he was happy at that moment in time. Anything could of happened
Just think he's average, when he takes on players it's more or less work rate than actually doing anything. He's the only one who puts in any actual effort. I wouldn't praise him on anything so far, I know he can shoot and I know he can dribble but I don't think it's top class. It's like Koscielny, when Koscielny makes a mistake he gets ripped apart because he was brought instead of a defender who's established, I feel the same way with Gervinho
