Nah, I don't do pubs. Normally Per, and Brede just drop by for some X360. Cats can't get enough of Madden and NCAA. Giorgio and Bene are in my bowling league.Chris wrote:So you go pub with Merte and Brede but not Chiellini or Howedes?

When he was available I wanted him at Arsenal more than anyone and he is infinitely better than Djourou who is shit. Merte woudln't be any worse than anyone currently playing in our back line. He is class and would be perfectly fine. He isn't fleet of foot, but that doesn't matter when you look at all of his other intangibles.

Per is very slow and immobile that's my biggest gripe with him. Much better than Djourou though, I'd rather Cahill that Mertesacker though.

''Arsène Wenger has made a bold statement of his intent by offering £22m to Rennes for the holding midfielder Yann M'Vila.
The Arsenal manager has consistently promised to make signings during what has been a testing summer only to struggle to find value in the market. But he appears to have concluded that he must pay over the odds for the right player and M'Vila, the 21-year-old holding midfielder, who has established himself as a regular for France, fits the bill.
Wenger has already had a £15m bid for him rejected and his latest offer would shatter Arsenal's transfer record for an incoming player. M'Vila is under contract until 2015. Wenger needs to reinforce his midfield, following the sales of Cesc Fábregas and Samir Nasri, and he has also tracked Eden Hazard of Lille. He wants to strengthen in central defence, too, and he is interested in Everton's Phil Jagielka, Bolton Wanderers' Gary Cahill and Birmingham City's Scott Dann.''

Isn't M'Vila a holding player? I've never seen him play but with Song, Frimpong and Diaby as defensive mids i'd like a player who has some craft and flair like Hazard more than this dude.blackskar wrote:''Arsène Wenger has made a bold statement of his intent by offering £22m to Rennes for the holding midfielder Yann M'Vila.

He's always been slow, but his speed has never been something to hinder his performance on the pitch. Werder were shit last season from top to bottom, but people seem to only point out his play. I would prefer Howedes first since we obviously wouldn't pay to get Chiellini. I don't rate Jagielka, or Dann, and I don't know enough about Cahill to really comment since I do not follow Bolton at all.
If players like Johan and Laurent can get into our team then Per would be an upgrade to both of them and would cost us less than Laurent did.

Yes he is a defensive midfielder, but he is better than Frimpong and would more than likely keep him out of the side.

He's a good individual yes, but he wont fit into to our team man. He'd be a weak link in our offside trap, struggle against fast players and players who ghost around the back(Especially with Gibbs/Jenkinson/Vermaelen in defense) and his ball playing ability is... Well err... Shit to be honest.
Koscielny is better in many aspects to be honest and playing Merte (lol) will create a new set of defensive problems. I could be wrong and he might sign for us and show his beastly form from before but I can't see it happening to be honest with ya.

M'Vila would be a fucking brilliant signing, would sort out some of our problems getting countered on, he's also very calm and efficient with the ball at his feet.

Re: Official Arsenal FC Thread
Well I don't expect him to sign for us and be a revelation, but for £8m I wouldn't be against him being another option at the back. I think of him more as being someone that can partner Thomas, but at the same time I would like to sign another central defender because I would love to keep Laurent and Johan out of the team.
Laurent is not as shit as I make him out to be, but I do not rate him at all and for the money we paid to get him I expect a hell of a lot more from him.

How much have we spent this window?
Sold: Cesc £35M, Nasri £24M, Clichy £7M, Eboue £4M = £70M
Wenger should make a fucking big signing like Hazard or Hulk or il smash his face in.

He's a younger Matuidi, but I think he is a little better at going forward than Matuidi. I like that he stays in the middle of the park, because Song still looks like he has on his Zidane boots this season although tonight he was excellent in the middle and wasn't overly aggressive and stupid like he has been lately.

I reckon with Mertesacker lack of pace and Vermaelens at times suspect positioning we'd be extremely susceptible to counter attacks. If we get M'vila to play alongside Song I think our attacking players would have more freedom to get forward without getting destroyed on the counter attack which is good aswell.

Hulk no thank you. Overpriced just like Falcao and although he is a good player, his price does not justify his end product.
I think Goal posted something today saying that Hazard would consider leaving this summer for the right team. However the President already said no to any price, so who knows.

I guess him not going for Brede would explain why he hasn't gone for Merte since they are basically one and the same although Merte is a better player. For £8m though I can't think of a reason to not sign him when you consider he would be less than what we paid for Laurent.
I would love to see us drop £18m on Howedes. He and Vermaelen would be a fucking nightmare for opposing teams.

Re: Official Arsenal FC Thread
I wouldn't give a shit even if we paid £40M for Hulk. Money does not run around the field for us, players do and we have a lack of quality right now. Im sick of us showing absolutely no intent with buying countless £10M players and right now we've got alot of fucking money to spend. All i care about is the team, not how much profit our board can spend on their new yahts and mansions which is where its all going.AriseForLife wrote:Chris wrote:How much have we spent this window?

Agreed. Even a midfield partnership with the both of them could work to our benefit, they can both easily switch their attacking and defensive duties between the pair of them throughout the match.AriseForLife wrote:Steadman wrote:M'Vila would be a fucking brilliant signing, would sort out some of our problems getting countered on, he's also very calm and efficient with the ball at his feet.
