Hasn't 4-4-2 been forced by the VDV and Bale injuries? I mean who else would you trust behind the striker besides VDV?
Kranjcar can, Modric can too.
Rather both of them played in the hole and we put Sandro/Livermore/Parker ect in behind them to mop up and start attacks from deeper, then playing 442 against United and Arsenal.

No one is good at them. Should really practice it on the training ground and get some routines going. And get some defending from set pieces sorted too.

Agreed, though Kaboul won a few of the headers from those corners. But nobody else starting yesterday would've taken them.kyro7 wrote:You need to get Modric off your corner's, his floated shit is not good enough.

Walker linked to Real Madrid
http://www.metro.co.uk/sport/football/892060-kyle-walker-and-glen-johnson-on-real-madrids-right-back-transfer-target-list
Metro though so probably bullshit but this is the Spanish link:
http://www.intereconomia.com/noticias-/punto-pelota/rafinha-y-van-der-wiel-agenda-real-madrid-20120301
No idea how reliable it is, but they spelled Johnson's name wrong so probably a poor source as well .

Re: Tottenham Hotspur Official Thread
For left back, Abidal won't be around for that long anymore and Barca apparently want someone similar to Dani Alves on the left side, Bale being a natural LB would be the perfect solution apparently. Don't buy into it though, Bale's solid defensively but most of the time just Busquets, Pique and Puyol would be back defending, Jordi Alba seems more likely right now.ResurrectionRooney wrote:Why would Barcelona want Gareth Bale?

They wouldn't. Usual press bullshit.
Bale aint a natural LB either. Quite clear he's a winger.

Re: Tottenham Hotspur Official Thread
Bale began his professional career at Southampton, playing at left back,
And Real need a RB anyway since Ramos was moved to the middle and Arbeloa isn't really that great, them getting Van der Wiel is more likely though (if he doesn't sign for Valencia).

Re: Tottenham Hotspur Official Thread
So? Just because he started there doesn't mean it's his natural position.
He's become the player he is today by playing as a winger, a position he looks more natural in then he ever looked at LB.
Edit: Fairly certain Walker began his career as a ST, but he's isn't a natural striker. He's a natural attacking FB

Since transferring to Spurs in 2007, managerial and tactical shifts have seen him transform into a more offensively-oriented player.

Whatever. He's clearly not a natural LB so I'm done here.
Using wiki to backup an argument is stupid too.

Next week.
Natural striker. Should stick him up top over Ade.
But it was only two years ago that Walker was switched from a striker into a full-back - and told to beef up.

Re: Tottenham Hotspur Official Thread
Well, you could argue that their natural position is winger too, since they played there for the most part of their youth, including when they were 14, 15, 16, the years which are crucial for a young footballer's developement. Same with Bale really, I guess there are different views as to what is the "natural" position for a football player, let's leave it at that .Theo Filippo wrote:And Thierry Henry began his professional career as a winger as did Van Persie.Gegilworld93 wrote:

Theo Walcott started as a striker and went out wide, but we all know his natural position is in the dugout.Gegilworld93 wrote:Well, you could argue that their natural position is winger too, since they played there for the most part of their youth, including when they were 14, 15, 16, the years which are crucial for a young footballer's developement. http://www.mirrorfootball.co.uk/news/Exclusive-Tottenham-will-try-to-hire-Jose-Mourinho-if-Harry-Redknapp-leaves-to-manage-England-article879295.html
Both most likely bullshit but if true it's nice to know Levy is prepared to take a step up in terms of players, wages and fees.
1st time I've seen a paper mention Rodgers too. Seeing him this season I reckon he's capable of taking a step up to a better team.
“Hazard’s a player on our list,” said Redknapp, whose team face Bolton in the quarter-finals of the FA Cup today. “He’s a player we like. It’s one the chairman will deal with and he will tell you if we are close or a million miles away.
“Hazard would cost a lot, but Daniel would compete at that level,” said Redknapp. “We haven’t spent this money before, but now you have to keep pushing on and the club would do the deal if we come up with the right targets.
“Of course, that is attractive to me as well. It’s good we can compete for top players. That’s what we want. The chairman is ambitious, we all are.”

Levy, though, who is aware of suggestions that Mourinho would be more interested in a serious project which could leave a legacy rather than purely his own salary demands, will make a determined move if Redknapp does agree to take on the England challenge he has long spoken of as his biggest personal ambition.
The impetus towards Mourinho has been increased by Levy and the Spurs board, considering there is a dearth of other viable options.
Chelsea Double winner Carlo Ancelotti would have been an obvious contender had he not taken up the offer to join Paris Saint-Germain a few months ago.
Spurs are believed to have reservations over whether Everton’s David Moyes really is the man to turn the club into potential title winners, while impressive Swansea boss Brandan Rodgers is deemed to be slightly too inexperienced.
