They were missing: Gibbs, Wilshere, Song, and maybe Gervinho from their starting lineup.
We were missing: Gerrard, Skrtel, Johnson, with our two most creative players starting from the bench. We are so sorry that our backups (ie Kelly) are better than theirs.
I always find this a weird argument. Lets say United played Barcelona soon, and both teams rested their whole first XI because it was a friendly or a pointless match or a virus outbreak whatever, and United won 2-1. Does this mean that United are a better side because both sides were equally without their top players, equally virus hit or equally treating is as unimportant, or that United would have won if it was First XI against First XI? No, all it means is that United might have better back-ups than Barcelona.
It's just a childish retort, if you beat Arsenal reserves next week with your reserves, when they say it was just a reserve match are you going to say 'Yeah well it was our reserves too hahahaha' ?
I get what you are saying but he is responding to those who are implying Arsenal were at some serious disadvantage and he was trying to say that things were fairly square on the injury front.
I think it is a valid point when some Gunners are trying to make the LFC win seem illegitimate.
Although, I am sure if the roles were reversed, the conversation would be as well
