Watch the video, the referee didn't even put his hands out to signal the advantage.

And if he had played advantage, there was none as soon as Nani went to close the keeper down.

This. Plus handling the ball in the way Nani did would be unsporting behavior and thus a yellow. Considering he didn't give advantage and didn't book him, then I am inclined to believe he didn't give anything.

It wasn't unsporting behaviour, he thought he had a penalty, and was not seeking to gain an advantage in play from it.

i dont usually agree with RR on principle BUT he's right. Nani should have been awarded a penalty. Karma restored..!!

Who cares anyway? The majority of the blame is Gomes', not the referees. Fletcher had the sense to ask the referee what had been given, and then it was shouted to Nani that he could play on.

Would've been the softest penalty ever awarded if it was given...difficult to tell how much contact there was from that video.

I've got the goal on my computer, just had a look and he pulled Nani, but Nani went down late, if Nani went down straight away the ref would have given it.

Right, so people want the ref to be lenient on shirt pulling, harsh on diving and handball, and not use the advantage rule, and if he doesn't do this, then he's being unfair.

The 5-2 game was a mix of the decision and our mental strength, it wasn't a penalty and the frustration got the better of us and we capitulated as I said earlier we did, plus that gave the momentum to a rampant United side at Old Trafford. Goals, even only to bring it to 2-1, can change games. The pen did that on that day. Palacios should've gone after seeing that gif, why does it say yuudu? or whatever it is by the way?

I just want tonight to be a fair game with great football and no shocking decisions made by the ref. But we know that won't happen either way. Still think United will win.

We already had the momentum in that game, we were flying at you, Ronaldo, Rooney, Tevez and Berbatov, Rooney was devastating. It was just a matter of time before we scored. The penalty didn't change anything, we were relentlessly attacking irrespective of the scoreline and you had no answer.

It probably will be a fair game, there's nothing to suggest it won't be.
