I wouldn't call spending 100 million over 2 windows slow. That Manchester City-esque

We've sold as well you know, anyway it's not like we are going to spend £50m every window.

If you want teams that don't spend look no further than Arsenal and Spurs.

Look how their seasons fell apart.
Obviously the net spend is only half that, but discounting sales it's around 100 million.

And look at the players Man City bought before they were a CL club, you have to build a strong squad who can keep form for an entire season to get top 4. Then you can start signing better players.

Balotelli, Tevez, Dzeko, Adebayor, Silva, Toure?

Not really. City bought great players before they were a top 4 team.

I can see us bouncing around 3rd-6th all season, I can't manage another season exluded from the Champions League. It's depressing.

Yeah, and practically every one of them is a dressing room cancer. Mancini did a remarkable job to make them successful, I don't know if Dalglish is capable of that, or if he'd even want to.

Point still stands though, we can't really go chucking money away on players like Robinho Balotelli and Santa Cruz who clearly don't give a shit about City.

Plus the whole foreigners thing will bite them in the ass eventually, whereas we are predominantly cultivating british talent. We could field 10 english player s and the side wouldn't be that bad.

Hate that fucking term, it's usually only an excuse for a player that isn't as good as another target or a player that underperforms.

    Fair enough.

I really don't know how good our team is anymore. It's really difficult.

I hope the team gels well with all these new players. That part of the equation often gets overlooked.

If Arsenal keep Fabregas and Nasri next season will be very difficult. Unlike last season I'm wary about other teams. We've added depth, they've all added quality. Arsenal are the team to catch, they are certainly the most vulnerable out of the other four. Spurs have no chance, especially if they lose Modric. Unless they sign someone big.

We haven't added quality, our first team is weaker than it was last year.

The striker made a belated return to Melwood following his heroics at the Copa America but the boss admitted he could yet be involved against the Black Cats after impressing on the training pitch.

Dalglish told his pre-match press conference: "He's trained and has no problem. We'll wait and see how he is tomorrow. We'll also see how Glen Johnson is in the morning.

"Obviously Steven (Gerrard) and Martin Skrtel aren't there and they are the only two. Everyone has come back from the international matches fine."
