It's days like these that make it easy being an Ajax fan, a lot of hardship during this season but today everything went our way.

    First AZ 2 - 2 FC Twente
    Then RKC 2 - 1 PSV & Roda 0 - 0 Feyenoord

Oh and it is just Heerenveen 0 - 4 Ajax at half time.

    -------------------

Just had a look at an Eredivise video about Heerveen and the result 5-1.

Ajax, PSV & Twente have together scored 25 goals against Heerenveen this season, 10 by PSV and Ajax over 2 matches (5-1,5-1 & 5-1, 5-0) and 5 by Twente. Heerenveen still has to play Twente in the 33rd round at home.
Heereveen did beat Alkmaar 5-1 to try and turn it around but could only produce 3-3 in the return.

Been away for 8 days, 6 of them in New York and 2 of them in airport and airplane hell. Missed last weekends games completely and just caught 50 minutes of Ajax - Groningen when i came home yesterday.

Not gonna do much of a dump now, pretty much just Ajax as the team is on a 11(!) game winning streak and only has to win 1 of the remaining games to secure the championship due to a superior 52+ Goal Difference.

As well as the fantastic Ajax form the team also signed Danish 25 year old NEC offensive midfielder Lasse Schöne. To begin with a squad player, but could fit as a replacement for the slow and sluggish Theo Janssen, he is a danish national team player but has since Christian Eriksen joined the squad at 18 not seen action in important matches, at home he is mostly known for his debut goal against Chile which came just after he was subbed on. Just after that match he broke his leg which broke his chance for a breakthrough in the team. This season he has been one of the most important players for NEC playing in all their league matches and scoring 10 goals.

Rumour has it that Ajax is also looking at AZ's Danish left back Simon Poulsen whose contract expires this summer.

Next weekend Ajax plays for what could decide the title away at FC Twente while Feyenoord and AZ face off in Rotterdam.

Simon Poulsen isn't that great from what I remember from the World Cup, has he improved?

He "famously" headed a bad cross into the back of Daniel Agger to make it 1-0 for Netherlands. For AZ he has been tearing it up on the left side most of the season but doesn't have the defensive qualities for a better league, i doubt he would be more than an offensive threat for Ajax, both Daley Blind and the sadly very injured Boilesen are better defensively, probably Dico Koppers as well. Against Valencia in the EL he didn't have much of a chance. He was bought from FC Midtjylland in Denmark where he was playing as a left mid/wing but was schooled a bit to fit as a dutch league left back, good speed and dribbling ability, but lacking defensively. Personally im not a fan, and don't see the need to bring him in. He wants to leave AZ but i don't think he can go much higher club quality wise.

Schöne seems to be a popular choice for Ajax however and the fans generally look positive towards the offensive midfielder. Not much on players leaving Ajax yet but i have no doubt that more than 1 big name will leave in the summer.

I'd rather play Koppers and Boilesen when he's back fit than bring in Poulsen. I like his play at AZ, but I doubt it will work at Ajax with two offensive fullbacks (if VDW stays or that young quick talent takes his place). I'm sure there are better options.

Any thoughts about the Eredivise possibly getting an extra European spot due to the fair play standings? In the most recent fair play standings from UEFA has the Netherlands in 3rd place which would be good enough for an extra spot.

Depends, what could be negative about it? I never keep track of the fairplay standings anywhere so i have no idea who it could be that would get the spot. Surprising that Netherlands is so high though, other leagues gotten rougher perhabs, Denmark at 10th and thats been fairly close to the top or in the top for last few years.

Out of the top 3-4 teams the dutch teams don't have much money, i don't know if they'd be making more than they would be spending if they don't go through to the group stage, maybe that is a negative thing?

Here are the super simple fair play standings, not quite what FIFA uses, just 1 point for a yellow card and 2 for a red.

    Ajax 38

    Excelsior 45

    Heerenveen 47

    AZ 48

    Twente 48

    Roda JC Kerkrade 53

    NEC Nijmegen 55

    Vitesse Arnhem 55

    VVV Venlo 57

    Feyennoord Rotterdam 58

    SC Heracles Almelo 59

    De Graafschap 60

    RKC Waalwijk 61

    FC Groningen 61

    PSV 63

    ADO Den Haag 66

    NAC Breda 68

    FC Utrecht 73

Then it would be best if Excelsior can go out and get themselves some cards as they do not have money or the quality to perform while Heerenveen could lose out on a league EL spot while still having quality to get to the group stage. and with Van Basten at the head of the club after summer that could be interesting.

I think its also down to other fair play aspects like fans and so on? I guess more detailed lists will go out soon.

Here is what UEFA actually looks at after I did a little bit more research

Teams are judged on the following criteria:

    • Yellow and red cards: If no cards are shown the score will be 10. Every yellow card will deduct this total by 1. A red card will cost a team 3 points in the ranking. If the red card is the result of a second yellow card the deductions of the second yellow card will be ignored. But if a player gets a direct red card after he got a yellow card earlier, the yellow card will be counted as a deduction. This score could become negative
    • Positive play: e.g. attacking tactics, acceleration of the game, efforts to gain time, and continued pursuit of goals. A team can score a maximum of 10 points and a minimum of 1 point
    • Respect to the opponent: e.g. returning the ball to the opponent at a throw-in, helping an injured opponent: maximum 5 points, minimum 1 point
    • Respect to the referee: maximum 5 points, minimum 1 point
    • Behaviour of the team officials: maximum 5 points, minimum 1 point
    • Behaviour of the fans: maximum 5 points, minimum 1 point

NB: this criterion is ignored when the number of fans is negligible e.g. if there are no fans at all or because of penalty that was given by the UEFA
The total number of points will be divided by the maximum number of points, 40 (or 35 if there are a negligible amount of fans), and multiplied by 10 which will result in a score between 0 and 10. The score is calculated to two decimal points and not rounded up.

So tomorrow could decide the title for Ajax should they win away against FC Twente, AZ or Feyenoord could in theory still equal Ajax points after that but would have to score a lot of goals to make up the goal difference Ajax has while Ajax doesn't gain any points in the last 2 matches.

Should Ajax win against Twente there is all except the title left to play for as the top is still very close, Heereveen moved back up to 4th with a win Saturday evening after falling slightly behind of course that can change tomorrow when 2 top matches are played, Bas Dost their league top scorer is at 30 goals for the season so far.

First Roda JC plays PSV, after that theres kick-off for FC Twente v Ajax and Feyenoord v AZ. Last there is NEC v RKC who are neck and neck at the middle of the table but other than finishing in the top or bottom half they don't have anything else to play for.

Ajax are unofficially champions, as a 2-1 victory over FC Twente was secured, the 12th victory in a row. Feyenoord won against AZ. Ajax aren't officially champions as they are still in theory reachable should Ajax not gain points in the next 2 matches and Feyenoord overcome a 24+ Goal difference between the 2 teams.

Heereveen is said to want 10-15m Euro for Bas Dost, but not sure he will want to leave as the next season gives the opportunity to be coached by Marco Van Basted for him and the rest of the Heerenveen squad. On the other hand should Narsingh or Elm leave he might not get a goal tally quite like this again, and while i think he is good Luuk De Jong is a better striker and someone like Siem De Jong is a better player.

    AJAX KAMPIOEN

    Eredivise 11/12 Thread - Page 6 414389_362897433757611_123044724409551_941716_104555460_o

A 2-0 Win against VVV-Venlo secured the 31st Championship for Ajax, after a 13 game win streak. 2 Goals by Siem De Jong on assists by Aissati.

The title has looked secure for a few matches after what can only be described as the closest spring part of the season ever, with 6 teams neck and neck since the league started up again in late January.

It is still close but todays results made it so there are only 2 clubs in the race for the 2nd CL spot, PSV (If they take it Heracles gets Europa League) and Feyenoord who are currently in the hot seat with 1 point more than PSV's 66. Feyenoord face off with the current number 4 Heerenveen who cannot make the CL spot due to goal difference despite only being 3 points behind, but can secure themselves Europa League by making sure AZ Alkmaar at 62 points can't catch them. Twente became the big loser of the night dropping from being very close to the lead just a few months ago till being out of the placements for the Europe spots.

Ajax has just the last game against Vitesse, of course Ajax fans want the club to continue the impressive winning streak and get the 14th in a row but it is a match without value to either team since Vitesse are in "limbo" in 7th place far from 6th and 8th, and Ajax of course clear champions without any games left to play.

After the league ends there are play-offs, for the remaining EL spot (Boo!) and the Jupiler League playoff, where number 16 and 17 in the Eredivise compete with the 8 clubs in the Jupiler league that won access to the play-off tournament (Fairly complicated, but its something along the lines of period champions, not places 2-9 in the league) FC Zwolle are the ones to join the Eredivise after summer.

Who goes down is yet to be decided, a real relegation battle against 17 and 18, Graafschap & Excelsior was on tonight which ended 2-2, Excelsior are last with 19 points while Graafschap have 21. Graafschap must have the match point since Excelsior face PSV in the last match while Graafschap face number 15 ADO Den Haag who are safe from relegation.

On the transfer speculation of Vertonghen, he was voted Man of the Match and of course got to lift the trophy as captain, he had 2 shots on the post in the first half and some great raids up the field that really got the fans going, a well played match from him.

Eriksen was possibly the poorest Ajax player of the match, lost a lot of balls and generally seemed a bit off touch, it wasn't a well played match at all and Eriksen was a bit symbolic of that, all though he celebrates very well and i think he might have gotten a little drunk even before the cameras were gone king

    Eredivise dump!

First Ajax: Played away against Vitesse with a sort of second string line-up including Andre Ooijer to get his last game. It started in Vitesse's favor who is warming up for the EL play-off and they took the lead in first half although Bulykin managed to equalize before the half time. The 2nd half gave some iconic goals, first from Andre Ooijer, scoring in his very last Eredivise match and then Jan Vertonghen who also was playing his last match for Ajax scored as well. The 2 goals meant that Ajax got a 3-1 lead and held it and with that the 14 game winning streak to end the season is "complete"

The other games came out with the following placements

Feyenoord won 3-2 against Heerenveen and secured Champions League qualification. Heerenveens loss places them at 5th but they still get EL qualification due to PSV ending in 3rd therefor moving the Cup winners EL spot into the league rather than giving it to the cup losing team Heracles
PSV Beat Excelsior 3-1 and secured 3rd spot while Excelsior are sure to go down as the last place
AZ Alkmaar beat Groningen with 1-0 to secure 4th and EL
VVV-Venlo beat FC Twente 4-2 but they were already sure to go to the Jupiler league playoff before the match, Twente's loss means nothing as they were dependant on AZ losing to move out of 6th.
Graafschap beat ADO Den Haag 5-3 to do their part in securing that they don't go directly down but get a 2nd chance in the Jupiler league play-off, Excelsior had to beat PSV while Graafschap lost to change that.

Roda JC's Loss to Utrecht means that they miss the EL play-off which NEC and RKC enters just a point ahead in 8th and 9th place.

    To sum up

    CL & Championship: Ajax
    CL Q: Feyenoord
    EL Q: PSV(Cup), AZ, Heerenveen
EL Play-off: Twente, Vitesse, NEC, RKC
Jupiler League playoff: VVV-Venlo, De Graafschap with Jupiler League teams: Sparta Rotterdam, Helmond Sport, FC Eindhoven, Willem II, SC Cambuur & FC Den Bosch (MVV and Go Ahead Eagles were in but knocked out in the first round that was played last week)
    Jupiler League winner: FC Zwolle

No team from the Jupiler league can be relegated to a lower league, the lower league teams all opted out of promotion due to money problems

There is still a fairplay spot to be given out, which probably should have gone to Twente and can still end up going to them if they don't win the EL-Playoff

Thanks! Yeah i will probably do it for the next season, although all participation is appreciated as well. A few updates although i don't know if i will be watching the play-offs, out of spite or simply had a bit too much of it for a little.

For the EL play-off NEC and Vitesse face each other while FC Twente and RKC Waalwijk face each other, 2 leg matches and the final is also 2 legs. First round is this Thursday and the 2nd is this Sunday.

The top 3 best players in the league were named and they were:

Jan Vertonghen(middle) got the golden boot, Jordy Clasie of Feyenoord(Left) got the Silver Boot and Christian Eriksen got the bronze boot.

A few things were said after for interviews i plucked out the more interesting ones

"It’s a reason to stay a while at Ajax. Within three years I want the Golden Boot in my possession. After winning the Johan Cruyff price as talent of the year, and now the third place, i build on it quiet"

    - Christian Erikse

He is unique. How he thinks, how he’s busy with his sport, the goals he sets, he’s very mature. He’s the best and the fittest, but still the youngest. So he’s going to go far, everyone knows that. Or there must happen something really strange. Other guys who talk about FC Barcelona, I think, yeah boy, go train a little bit more. With Christian I don’t have that

Vertonghen didn't talk about his future although rumors of Newcastle wanting to bid on Nicolai Boilesen has been floating around, it seems like nonsense as he is still injured and has just signed on for 4 more years at Ajax.

How bad is Excelsior? If they get the fair play spot and get drawn with a team from say Andorra, Faroe Islands, or San Marino would they be able to cruise through to the next round? How many supporters do they have?
