Bumping for a great bit of news:
Ledley King made his return from injury to play 90 minutes in a friendly with West Ham at Spurs Lodge today (Wednesday).
It was the Club Captain’s first action since our Premier League
victory at Fulham back in October, with groin trouble keeping him out
for the majority of this season.
But ‘Leds’ looked comfortable as a side also including Sebastien
Bassong but mainly made up of young players now back from loan spells in
the Football League came back from two goals down to run out 3-2
winners.
Early goals from Cristian Montano and Zavon Hines saw the Hammers
race into the lead before Harry Kane, back from an impressive spell at
Leyton Orient, pulled a goal back on 20 minutes following good work from
Andros Townsend and Jake Livermore down our left.
It sparked a Spurs resurgence, with Bassong seeing a header cleared
off the line and both Kane and Jon Obika hitting the post in quick
succession before half-time.
The equaliser came 10 minutes after the break. Again it was Kane on
the scoresheet – the 17-year-old forward was named our Scholar of the
Year last night.
Dean Parrett led a counter-attack, playing Obika in down the left
hand side for the striker to square unselfishly for Kane to slot home.
Both goalkeepers were kept busy. Oscar Jansson was in fine form for
us, making key saves from Olly Lee, Callum McNaughton and Junior
Stanislas, while Frank Nouble flashed a good chance wide just after the
hour mark.
At the other end, Ruud Boffin made stops to deny Obika twice and
substitute Paul-Jose M’Poku, before the Belgian youth international
forced a winner in the final 10 minutes.
The winger, also back from a loan at Orient, won possession in
midfield before advancing into the box to get on the end of a right-wing
cross with a smart volley.
Spurs – Jansson; Byrne, King, Bassong, Bostock; Parrett, Livermore, Carroll (Luongo), Townsend (M’Poku); Kane (Lancaster), Obika
