Re: Tottenham Hotspur Official Thread
Have any of you heard of the news about the stadium troubles and the chance that the club may move east to the Olympic Stadium? Tragic I'd say I would much prefer Spurs to remain where they are on White Hart Lane.

Levy's said the the Olympic stadium is purely to keep our options open and to act as leverage in our deal for planning permission.

Modric is an overrated cunt. I bet never in his career will he be worth 20 goals in a season. I'll smash his face in.

Then why doesn't he get 10 assists or a bare goals a season? I bet VDV scores more and gets more assists this season than Modric has in his spurs career. He's nowhere near the level people make out.kyro7 wrote:The-Reporter wrote:Yes mum?kyro7 wrote:Oh dear.

Scholes doesn't get many assists, and not many goals any more, not everything is based on stats.
Scholes has been probably our best player.
Modric is quality in the middle, brilliant passer of the ball, and I don't mean spraying it around everywhere, he opens doors for his team.

Hmmm, yes I heard that. I don't think anything is purely leverage because if the party that it is being used against doesn't fold, then what?Point wrote:Levy's said the the Olympic stadium is purely to keep our options open and to act as leverage in our deal for planning permission.
I understand our first option is always to stay in north London but I don't like that we are having to fight for something that should be inevitable.

About the stadium, it has actually been revealed we want to bulldoze Olympic and build our new stadium there, then build athletic venues in other places for the country

From what I've read on Spurs sites, the council are just playing hard ball with it all and are going to agree to most, if not all, of our plans in the end.

Ben Alnwick has joined Championship side Leeds United on a one-month loan.
Goalkeeper Ben has previously spent time on loan with Luton Town, Leicester City, Carlisle United and Norwich City since joining us from Sunderland in January, 2007 as well as appearing on three occasions in our colours.
Hopefully it does him some good.
FFS, a keeper is not what we need, we now have 5. Why couldn't we have tried to get Caulker or Livermore or any other defensive player you had?!

Re: Tottenham Hotspur Official Thread
I'm not too sure about Dzeko. Is he right type of striker we should be looking for? I always thought of him as a Berbatov type of striker who drops off into the hole. The position occupied now by VDV. I would say in a positional sense we need a Keane to VDVs Berbatov role. Someone who can play off the shoulder of the last defender.
I would actually like Luis Suarez. I thought he played that role so well for Uruguay, with Forlan dropping into the hole where VDV plays. He was the main striker there and he often plays that role for Ajax, albeit with 2 wide attackers either side of him. Plus he can also play as a wide attacker himself, which could allow us to go for a similar system to Barca.
or
Modric is a great middle of the park player. His retention of the ball is excellent, which plays a major role in how well we keep the ball as a team. He makes us tick and sets the tempo of play. He has great footwork in close quarters, which helps him out of tight spaces. His workrate (as all the Croatia internationals) is great. He is also good at making interceptions, while he also puts some much underated challenges in when needed. His balance is very good while he also has great intelligence and reads the game so well.
The only thing I would improve is his shooting, and more the power he generates. But it's getting better. He scored a great goal at home to Chelsea a couple of season ago, scored a great goal at home to Everton and away to Burnley last season. So he is capable. He also came close away to West Ham when Green tipped onto the bar, where he generated good power. If he improves his shooting, he could be valued in the same bracket as Berbatov.
I prefer to see what he contributes to the team as a whole. The stats only tell you so much. You actually need to watch the games to judge players properly. To see what they contribute on and off the ball. I can safely say we're a much better team with Modric in the team than without. Both Modric and Huddlestone have put together a great partnership, which actually helped us finish 4th last season. We retained possession better with those 2, but even in a game where we had to defend for most of the 90 mins (at home to Arsenal) they did a good job defending in front of the back 4. So they can play the other side of the game aswell.
I've been so impressed with those 2 as a central 2, even against 5 man midfields as strong as Man City and Chelsea. They have never been overrun and rarely outplayed. Those 2 should be straight in the heart of midfield whenever available imo. Just as Bale should always start on the left wing and VDV in the hole behind the striker. Those 4 should be definite starters when fit and on form.

I would expect VDV to get more goals and assists than Modric seeing as he plays further up the pitch than Modric.The-Reporter wrote:Then why doesn't he get 10 assists or a bare goals a season? Dzeko is MUCHHHHHHHHHHHH better than Suarez, and he's not really like Berbatov, he's got physical presence to be a loan striker, amazing header, and he's quality on the ball as well.

Both our keepers are out injured, so we've got a Blackburn reserve in net for today and then Alnwick on the bench, I think. That'll hopefully be the only time he's in the matchday squad.

Really do feel for King. Such a class player, that just can't get over his injuries.
Hate it though that Spurs fans are calling for time to be called on him When he's fit, he's our best defender, our most experienced defender in a Spurs shirt and such a player to have on the pitch.
