Stoke City in Europe
So they are through to the final qualifying round of the Europa League. Does anyone actually think they could do fairly well in this competition? Most teams struggle going to away to all the hostile grounds in Eastern Europe, but Stoke will be pretty much used to it considering the way their place is sometimes.

I'd like to see them do well. If they can is another thing. It would be very difficult for them.

Re: Stoke City in Europe
Don't think they have enough depth, but injuries has never really been much of a problem for them.
Reckon they could probably get to the semis if everything falls into place.

Great result for them, aren't they in the proper comp now? Thought the next round is the first round proper in this stupid format

Re: Stoke City in Europe
It's going to be interesting to see how they do. I think one of the bigger things is how seriously they're actually going to take this. Will they be like Fulham and try to win the competition, or will they be like Aston Villa and put the Premier League ahead of it.
I hope they try to win it as the loyal Stoke fans definitely deserve a trophy after coming so close last season. The fans will be a major factor and could help the team in home games against better sides.

Stoke have been drawn FC Thun. Sounds like a good draw for them.

Sounds like they have a good draw. Wouldn't be surprised if they went on and progressed.

Re: Stoke City in Europe
It will be interesting to track Stoke City in Europe because of the brutal English football schedule. How far they go really will be up to the manager and management to decide what competition to focus on. I would expect them to play their reserves in the Carling Cup since that generally is not important but for everything else who knows! In the Premier League they could try to make Europe from league position or play to simply avoid relegation. Then when you consider the Europa League and FA Cup who knows what will happen with the remainder of Stoke's season.

Re: Stoke City in Europe
The thing with Stoke is they sign players firstly on physical ability. And they don't exactly have a small squad either. I think they'll go all out in every competition, I think they'll comfortably safe in the PL but they will want to try win a cup as well(even if it was just Carling Cup)

They'll go out in the group stage (if they make it), stop playing.
