Cesc can leave, in no way would he be an Arsenal legend and I wouldn't want to stoop as low as the mancs

Did you expect him to score the goal he did? You don't know.
But EVEN if he did know..there was other similar circumstances in the game and no yellow was given.

Re: Barcelona V Arsenal 8/3/11
I feel for Arsenal here, and I can't say that the ref did not ruin the game, I know I said that if you are going to get a man sent off, get your forward sent off, but obviously the red was more than just tactical for Arsenal, it really changed the game and is unfair. It's impossible to say that Barcelona would've won anyway, especially with Arsenal getting the own goal and needing to concede twice to lose. Beforehand Arsenal defended brilliantly, better than they have vs. a quality opponent all year to me, I missed the penalty claim that some people are talking about in the first half so I cannot comment on that, but I feel really bad for Arsenal.

1) Busquets stops because of the flag/whistle
2) Van Persie is looking right at the linesman and sees the flag
3) With that amount of space he refuses to take a touch?
It's a harsh red card but you can't say the referee was wrong to give it.

Arsenal had plenty of decisions in their favor over the 2 legs, and the red card didn't change it much.dena wrote:I feel for Arsenal here, and I can't say that the ref did not ruin the game, I know I said that if you are going to get a man sent off, get your forward sent off, but obviously the red was more than just tactical for Arsenal, it really changed the game and is unfair. Yeah, what if the referee allowed that perfectly fine Messi goal in the first leg. Or given Messi a penalty when he should have tonight.

Well, when you consider that a good clean Messi goal was incorrectly ruled offside in the first leg, doesn't that balance it out for you? The refs were shit, but in the end, we got a just result.

I know he looks in that direction but he's looking at the ball and there's distractions. The flag is always visible maybe he didn't see it go up or wasn't sure. It's a massive crime to stop playing in a position like that only for there to have been no whistle (e.g. that other Barcelona game in Europe with the fake whistle from goalie)

Yep, he's basically summed up the whole 180 minutes in one sentence. If Arsenal fans wanna contest that, well thats up to them. But they are the facts. They just wern't good enough over 2 legs. For me, Arsene got it badly wrong tonight. He tried to go with a gameplan that was blatently going to alienate his players. He tried to be too' cautious and they didn't play the way Arsenal usually plays.
He can moan at the referee's all he wants, but it was his tactics that cost him tonight. Balague makes a great point just now on Revista, Arsene has worked on a certain Philosophy of football over the last 14 years at Arsenal, he's tried to build a squad who are based on passing, movement and playing in opponents half, why did he just totally change that tonight?

We all knew he would leave. What he done for this club and the amount of praise he still gives us the fans, players, manager and team. He will be a legend, not one like Giggs or Scholes but still a legend in the club.
