He's had a great career but i'm going to concentrate on his time since England.
With England he got us to 3 Quarter Finals, yet to the media and fans this was a bad thing. Him not being English was also against him. During his time as England manager, I also think the football we played was quite good. Lampard and Gerrard imo, were a good combination to have in Midfield, and it didn't seem to go wrong.
Since he's left, we failed to qualify for the Euro's with an English Manager, and done absolutely shit in South Africa, reaching the 2nd Round. You could also argue that the squad we had in South Africa was better than the one we had in Germany.
I'd much prefer 3 Quarter Finals, rather than a no entry and a 2nd round exit. Lets face it, we aren't exactly the best team in the world, and imo the Quarter Finals was around the right level for us.
After England he went on to Man City. He achieved their joint highest Premier League total at the time with 55 points. At the time fans didn't want him to be sacked, and people believe the players went on strike in their 8-1 defeat to Boro at the end of the season. So again, another successful enough job in England.
At Mexico he was shit.
At Notts County he did well behind the scenes as director of football and was instrumental in them going up, attracting players like Kasper and Campbell.
With Ivory Coast he did well, but unfortunately for them they were in the Group of Death again, but they did all that they could.
Now onto Leicester, he's took them from bottom of the table in October, to 1 point off the Play Offs and looking very strong. They will deffo be up there at the end of the season, and he's attracted experienced players such as Vassell and Yakubu, mixed with youth like Van Anholt.
All in all, I think he doesn't get enough credit for his managerial skills, and the media tend to say he was a shit England manager and concentrate on his personal life.
Here's to Sven
I'd love to have him as England manager still
