What was the best use of a certain style of play and tactics you've seen?

I'd say either Greece's soak up pressure/counter attacking at Euro 2004 or else Mourinho's give away possession tactics at the Nou Camp.

Not really about tactics there though, more motivation and spirit.

There was this weird thing Porto did against Benfica where they played a 4-3-3 slanted to the left. They ripped Benfica a new one by putting all the pressure on the left flank. Benfica's RB wasn't good enough to utilize to space he had on the right.

    shifty

I did love Mourinho's "give the ball away" strategy though.

I can't really think of a specific one that I've seen that hasn't been said, but the way Owen Coyle turned Bolton from a hoofball team into one that plays attractive, attacking football is truly amazing. not worthy

Watford, Sheff Utd and Coventrys put 10 men behind the ball and play for a 0-0 draw tactic.

Only one that didn't succeed was Sheff Utd because they fluked a 1-0 win. Neutral

Barnsley tried the same tactic today but it looks like we have learnt how to unlock 10 man defences.

The cake is a lie. shifty

Bolton certainly have good ball playing midfielders in Holden, Lee, Petrov, etc. but they still are a very direct, hoof it Davies/Elmander team.

Oh forgot about Chile, what a breath of fresh air they were. Loved the 3 at the back approach, Bielsa should get a job at Argentina or someone IMO.

USA vs Spain and then Brazil. Press early looking for a goal (element of surprise). Then, sit back and hold on for dear life.

Worked brilliantly against Spain, but not against Brazil, obviously.
