So, do Throw-ins correlate with final results in the majority? An interesting topic for sure.

Concede more throw ins = Win more games?

That seems to be a theory my uncle discovered. My uncle is a man who has always been involved with football, and during our football discussion between me, him and one of my brothers, he mentioned that while he was writing down stats and things, he always noticed a pattern at the end. Teams who were conceding the most throw-ins were winning the games. Why? Well, because the defence is doing it's job. A defenders number 1 job is to clear the ball, were safer to clear the ball then into the safe haven of the stands? Of course stats like these don't apply for ALL teams but when it comes down to it you might find it is key to success with teams structured by managers like Mourinho who like to master the defensive game and move on from there.
So, do Throw-ins correlate with final results in the majority? An interesting topic for sure.

You could also be conceding more throw-ins because you're the team under pressure. Surely whatever your uncle saw was a statistical anomaly.

Hmm. Well, if you're defending, and you're not clearing the ball correctly, this will most likely lead to a higher chance of errors, and the ball being blocked b an opposition player leading to a goal.
If you don't clear your lines right there's always a danger, and if you aren't taking the risk of giving away a throw-in, you may be taking a bigger risk of conceding a goal.

TBH these stats he has taken down must be for certain teams TBH. To be sure of something like this you would need to take the stats down for all games in a season over a number of years.
Also as rei said. Barcelona who always put pressure on the other team will 90% of the time have more throw ins to them. IMO it just depends on the style of play of certain teams.

Think it's just a coincidence, having many clearances is usually a sign of pressure, constant pressure is most associated with a team usually on the back foot, and if you are pinned back for most of the game it's likely that you'll lose. I think looking at interceptions would be a more telling statistic. Winning the ball high up the pitch (in your own half) and before it gets to your CBs (in the opposing half) is usually the sign of a good defensive team.

Recording stats for no personal gain sounds like a hobby to me.

Statistically, if you concede more goals = you win less games.

Conceding more throws = the opponents having more throw-ins to take.
