Currently in a save with Rangers ironically.
I strolled D3 and D2, also won Challenge Cup while in D2. Lost in two consecutive Scottish Cup Semi-Finals to Celtic. First one I lost 2-1 and second one on pens.
Currently in summer before D1. Made some good signings.
Post your signings/squad? Any of the youngsters made it for you?
Transfers:
First team:
Kal Naismith is the only youngster to really make it, Hutton and MacLeod occasionally make an apperance.
Faure is absolute quality.

Re: The Football Manager Chat Thread!
Yeah, I got like £2Million from a French club for Faure in a previous save.
I do the same as you, but hunt for free agents/loans from Scottish clubs rather than England.

I think Joey Barton is going to prove to be a fantastic signing in D1.

Re: The Football Manager Chat Thread!
came 13th with West Brom!!!!!!!!!
squad will look like this for next season
--------------------Le Fondre-----------------
******-------------Morrison-------Redmond
---------------Thorne---Yacob----------------
Cresswell--Dawson-Wootton--********
----------------------Forster--------------------
I will start to breed in Goretzka with the hope of him taking a starting spot from Morrison by the end of the season. Also got two regens I want to try and bring in a bit this season, before making them subs next season.

How are you doing defensively? I ask because I've been reading stuff suggesting not to play a BWM without having a DM because he'll chase the ball around too much and leave you exposed. I found that to be true in my save, but I have yet to get back on there and mess with it.

Re: The Football Manager Chat Thread!
Have any of you tried with 3 at the back?
I would like to try this formation one day
---------------ST--------------
---------------AM-------------
W------------CM-----------W
----------DM------DM--------
-------CB---CB---CB-------
--------------GK----------------
Although I am worried it might leave me rather open for attacks down the wings

Set your wide midfielders to man mark the attacking wingers on the other team.

Re: The Football Manager Chat Thread!
it will be a good few seasons before I can implement that well though tbh
I will need wingers with a high work rate, ideally my whole team would have a high work rate and good teamwork
I currently have 3 players in my squad, that I would like to put in that formation

Re: The Football Manager Chat Thread!
Actually I have the 3 CBs needed for my formation imo
one of the DM, the CM and the AM
Just need the wingers, another DM and a forward. Any goalkeeper can play in the formation tbh

Pretty good in terms of goals conceded, I am top of the league though as expected.Bye_Ya wrote:Trent wrote:

I have got an outstanding midfield + striker combo for the future, a mix of pace, creativity, strength and passing ability. It is going to be outstanding

-----------Burgess*------------
-----Goretzka---Thorne-----

Every now and then. Got a fairly successful journeyman save going on atm. Just won Ligue 1 at Monaco in 2023 with a record points total.

Re: The Football Manager Chat Thread!
I've had two saves. One with Wolves which got boring as a while as my whole squad was full of regens and one with Chelsea where I've just won the league and won the European Cup twice in a row.
I will start another save when the new update comes out.

Re: The Football Manager Chat Thread!
August review
A fantastic start to the season my friends. Only marred by the Capital One Cup loss to Huddersfield.
Our opening game of the season was a home game against Everton. We ran out comfortable winners with new signing Kevin Volland opening his account for the club.
After a fantastic opening game of the season we then had to play Spurs, a much harder task on paper. However...the team surpassed all expectations and pulled of a shock 3-1 win with Rodriguez and Volland scoring again.
We then had a break from league action and faced Huddersfield in the Capital One Cup. We fielded a much weaker team than previous games and paid the price after Huddersfield scored in the last minute of extra time to progress.
Back to the league. We faced a Newcastle team who had drew their first two league games 0-0. Goals from the usual suspects again with Lambert also getting on the scoresheet gave us a 3-1 win.
Jay Rodriguez was named Player of the Month for August scoring four goals in three appearances. Luke Shaw also won Young Player of the Month for August with fellow Southampton player Callum Chambers finishing 3rd.
We are at the top of the table after three league games. Long may it continue.

Does anyone have a link to a world database? I fancy managing the Guyana NT after reading an article on them.

PSG had like a 10 point lead at the half way mark in the season, I could pull off a great achievement in my first season at Rennes
