cool, did you just start?
i'm in the 2nd season now in feb 2014. 6 points clear of 3rd place tottenham, 8 points clear of 1st place man utd. i'm in the carling cup final, and i'm still active in the FA Cup and europa league (qualified by winning FA cup last season)
out of the original players, i've kept dann, givet, pedersen (retrained to LB), olsson (i use him as LW, he's my top scorer), robinson, hanley, cotton (retrained to RB), urwin (backup keeper), and rittenberg (hot prospect)
i sold everyone else for profit (vukcevic, rhodes, formica, rochina, edinho, lowe, etuhu, henley, nunes, etc)
all of the first team players i've brought in were either free transfers or loans (mostly foreign players)
the only players i've actually spent transfer money on are all english/domestic hot prospects (butland, shaw, ward, barkley, cleverley (transfer listed), green, campbell)

i go him on a free too lol
destro's just like how he is IRL for Roma. he gets into a lot of good shooting positions and gets pretty much all his shots on target, but he's still not scoring as much as he's supposed to. most of the time he shoots straight at the keeper or fires a weak shot. i'm trying to use ppm's to fix him (places shots, try to round keeper, shoot with power, etc)
his stats look so amazing though and he develops very quickly in 2013/14

What role do you use? He seems to be quite a complete striker, not many weaknesses.

Re: The Football Manager Chat Thread!
here's more on destro in my save
he's 2nd in the EPL at the % shots on target category
what this means is he's very good at shooting
however he only averages a goal every 150 minute, 24th in the league
meaning he's not very clinical
it shows when you compare him to the other top scorers in my team
destro also gets caught offsides pretty often so that's something else to think about if you're trying to retrain him using ppm's. i'm holding that off for now by playing him as a deep-lying-forward/attack instead of a poacher. that way he doesn't get offsides "as" often. he scores more goals in a poacher role, but he provides a lot of key passes and assists as a DLF
i tried destro as a complete forward during some of my friendly matches but he would run with the ball too often and get dispossed (if you're curious, destro only completes 1.5 dribbles/game, good for 77th in the league)

Schnix, do long FM saves become so big, that it's hard to carry on i.e. because of the date it's so slow?
Longest I've ever played with one side is like 2 years.

Tbf, I've never been into all that regen business. Of course, it would be cool to spend the time etc, but for me it'd get far to boring and end up putting me off more then anything else.

I'm VfB Lübeck in the Regionalliga, well I'm in 3.Liga now because I got promoted. My squad is meh
my club is poor and I made Julia the chairperson
she keeps investing money into the club to help with running costs because we are poor, we have a good working relationship. Marvellous in fact, I might ask to marry her in a press-conference

Just signed van Persie, £1.8m.
Ridiculous amount of clauses in his contract though.

33. 2016/2017.
Hasn't started well. 1 draw from 5 league games I think. Only scored twice.

Re: The Football Manager Chat Thread!
didn't you just start? how do you progress so quickly???
i'm still in my second season with blackburn
i signed like half of england's future NT lol: butland, shaw, ward, mceachran, barkley, green, campbell. except for butland and green, each of these players cost me like €15m each lol. i have urwin, dann, cotton, rittenburg, and cleverley as well, not to mention my regens
pretty sure i call up a decent Blackburn only XI for english NT

Re: The Football Manager Chat Thread!
i need a new team captain now that Gael Givet's not good enough
going to try to get Phil Jones back to Blackburn in the upcoming transfer window. pretty sure if i sell Destro, Cuadrado, and Muriel, i should have enough €€€ to get him. i just hope he's open to a contract offer

I started one of the challenges with Southampton, and don't actually "play" the matches, so it goes a lot quicker.Schnix wrote:didn't you just start? how do you progress so quickly???

Re: The Football Manager Chat Thread!
iirc you signed some players and put clauses in the transfer offer like £10M after 10 England appearances and things like that. Also you sign old players who offer little to your team on high wages. When they bring Financial Fair Play into Football Manager, I fear you may stop playing because you are treating the game like it is FIFA. If you want to sign players for ridiculous amounts of money and pay them ridiculous amounts of money while running your club into severe debt you might be better off playing FIFA young Daniel.

Re: The Football Manager Chat Thread!
Well it's a good job that when I try to sign players that normally have ridiculous wages (Robin's on over 100k a week at United, he's on 53k for me) I put in relegation release clauses into his contract.Chip wrote:iirc you signed some players and put clauses in the transfer offer like £10M after 10 England appearances and things like that. On about the England caps, I was desperate to keep Rooney so would have offered just about anything, and Derby were being knob heads over negotiating for Hughes.
I know when I can't afford to get a player. I was after Torres but he was having none of it.

Re: The Football Manager Chat Thread!
lol, that actually happened to me in Siena in FM11. i gave 3 mediocre players "match highest wage clause". then when i did actually sign a good player (fernandinho), my mediocre players (34 year old rosicky, carrizo, obinna) all matched his wages
i was like 20 million over my wage budget. then my ass man left me and the board wouldn't allow me to pay more than 1k salary to get a new ass man. i stopped playing at that point

i've started a career with Bristol City will be a bit of a challenge.
Starting off with hardly any money and maybe mid table championship side.
