Our squad is better then Spurs still imo, they'll look better in the first month because they have a ridiculously easy next 5 fixtures, and ours are very tough, but after that we'll have Sagna and Wilshere back and hopefully we can go on a run.
Chelseas defence is too shit to finish ahead of United imo

A pop-up to end the game and win the series.. he misses it, run scores, we lose.
Seriously.. it's like watching the American Arsenal.
Cubs have a lot of history.. and have had a lot of league winning teams.. they just always choked and came up short.
But yeah.. I'm not into the team since I haven't been here long enough.. but it's the talk of the town every single day.. It's Arsenal
Not gonna lie, I have no fucking idea what half of that meant.
In most American sports you play in series at the end of a season which is reserved only for the best teams who qualify (Usually the best in their region). Series consists for 7 games, his team were on course to win (for example winning 3-0 in the first leg of like a champions league in football) however they lost by the other team winning 4 times which would end 4-3 in a very very unlikely fashion (for example getting thrashed 4-0 in the 2nd leg of the champions league).

Our fixtures are tough for a while. A few "easy matches" in between tough competition. Unlucky.

For me not signing a replacement for Song was utterly bizarre and the reason I am pissed off. I wasn't expecting a ridiculous signing, I was expecting a sensible signing and it didn't happen...
Also I think Cazorla will shine against the bigger teams because hopefully he will be able to find more space

That's not our goal at the moment. I know no one wants to hear this but it's ridiculous to say that we can still compete for the league. It's not possible. Manchester City spent 50 million pounds this summer on players and not one of the six players they bought is even going in to their starting eleven. Think about that. It's just not realistic to think that we can compete for the big trophies at the moment in the current climate. We just do not have the resources. At the moment, all we can aim for is to keep our prestige by consistently qualifying for the Champions League until the time comes when we can once again compete for titles. I'm sorry to say it but it is undoubtedly the truth.

And why is that? Because our board decided to not care that much about continuing the success on the pitch and decided to focus more on profits. Horrible balance. Not attacking you, it's a shame we have to think this way now and settle for that mentality.

I don't want that prick either. I know a lot of you will disagree with me but I don't think he's the solution. The solution is a board that isn't as out of touch with the fans and the footballing aspects of the club, and a bit of patience. We don't need Usmanov. What happens if he comes in and becomes uninterested in investing like the Malaga owners? All we've done then is thrown our values down the trash while risking the future of the club. It's unhealthy to be entirely dependent on one owner.

He's interested in using the money Arsenal have earned, not his own. Not that I believe everything he says, however it's unlikely you would lie about something that's not worth making a lie for. If he was, he'd be better off saying he'd invest 100m straight up

That's blatant pandering. It's much smarter to say that he'll spend the money we earn than to say that he'll just pump cash into the club. Why? Because that appeals to people like myself and many other fans who don't want us to sell our values in order to move forward. I think a majority of Arsenal fans feel that way. It also implies that the current board is deliberately fucking us over and that makes him look much more appealing. Look at Arseblogger's analysis of the statement he released after van Persie announced his decision not to renew his contract. It was all just generic nonsense that appeals to everyone but has absolutely no substance. Definitely do not want that scumbag.

I agree with that, not so much the rest
Football appeals to everyone, however it appeals more to the moronic working class (it's more of a correlation, clearly not all of the working class are moronic) that complain about people not working as hard as they do despite them not working hard enough in school. Because of this they are entitled to believe whatever they are told, which is what investors thrive on. I believe they'd just say the obvious rather than try to appeal to people with more intellect than the sheep that walk this earth.
As long as the board don't sell their shares he can't run this place just by himself which means that money we make off transfers he can't directly profit from. Obviously he'll profit from Arsenal but not directly from transfers, It's not exactly in his best interests not to tell half the truth

Re: Official Arsenal FC Thread
The board isn't the problem. We have virtually the same board (excluding Nina Bracewell-Smith) when we were winning titles. The problem is that we do not have someone like David Dein who can bridge the gap between Arsene and the suits. When Arsene had nothing to do but worry about the first team and thats it we were fine, but once Dein left we went to shit and that much is fact. With Dein Arsenal wins due to Arsene having less control, with Arsene having a steel grip we win nothing. Dein knew how to work the board to get what Arsene wanted and also to take added duty off of Arsene. Usmanov may not be the answer, but he would bring Dein back to the club which would be a win win for the club.BladeGunner wrote:Paulinho wrote:Usmanov IN

Maybe it was 3-1. It was vs the Marlins.. yes.. definitely 3-1 then. Either way, not really the point. Analogy didn't really fail because of that error.

My memory must be a bit fuzzy. Boston never had a two game lead in the series, and had to force a game 7. But they did have a 3 run lead late on, only to lose in the 12th inning on Aaron Boone's homerun off of a Wakefield knuckleball.

Re: Official Arsenal FC Thread
To be fair, if you think of it from Wengers point of view:
In:
Cazorla, Giroud, Podolski, Arshavin, Wilshere, Diaby
Out:
van Persie, Song, Benayoun.
In terms of who actually played for us last season, that's how it stands really so we're probably better equipped than last season, but who knows what Wilshere will be like, Diaby could break again too. Not to mention Steve Bould is kind of like a new signing in defense.
And we just have to get through this Liverpool game really, and then by the time we play another hard team Wilshere should be back along with Sagna and we'll have a strong side out there.
If we didn't sell Song, or actually brought in Sahin on loan then we'd have actually had a decent enough summer.
