Oh wow 1 game, give me a dozen from the latest consoles that take you weeks, maybe months to complete. When PS2/Xbox were the shit it took a long time to beat a game.

Fifa takes ages to complete.

Xbox 360 is more online now, why would game developers focus on a story more than an online aspect when there are many games solely based for online. Move with the times.

Online should just be a feature to a game, not the main focus point of it, Jesus Imo, games like CoD are ruining gaming.

I don't think they are.

I still like campaign games, only sandbox games though like: GTA 4, Saints Row and obviously Call of Duty.

To a certain extent they are, the popularity of COD has caused people to neglect Campaign based games and focus on online, it has also lead to a massive increase in FPS games. Saturating the market.

Because you can only develop an online based shooter once without repetition. A story based game can be as diversified as a book, as a movie or a comic book. With Online gaming as the crux of the game you would have to compete with already established heavy hitters within the genre and 30+ games would be competing for the attention and time of a limited ammount of gamers with limited time. 20+ of these games would never make it, and you end up with a gaming industry which caters to a certain part of the market, ignoring a lot of potential customers and consumers, while only 10 major titles, and an even smaller number of companies, control the market.

That is not good.

It's the community that killed COD.

As long as FIFA, Football Manager and GTAs are still being released I'm happy.

I suppose it's equally the developers fault, they wouldn't remove quick-scoping because kids would stop buying it = them losing money, therefore whatever makes them money, they'll do. What the fuck is quick-scoping? I mean, do you reckon guys in the army quick scope from 100 feet away and hit the guy in the dome? There's a reason for not being able to quick scope in BF3. They also won't get dedicated servers because "it's too expensive" ... BF3 has dedicated servers. Even though COD is the biggest selling franchise in gaming history.

Without innovation and competition games become stagnant. Although Rockstar are good at what they do, exceptionally so even, without the competition from other AAA titles they won't need to put AAA money into the development of their games, because they rule the market, lessening the quality of the games they deliver, while making the same profit because there aren't anyone left to challenge them.

CoD's developers are lazy and uncreative, Just add some tweaks to last year's game and they are done.
Rockstar are my favourite because it takes them almost half a decade to make a game like RDR and GTA, they put tons of effort into it, I wish more companies are like them.

I guess so, I don't tend to play FPS that often. Online play is just too stressful, it seems like 80% of the time other online players are there to make your experience a bad one.

In fairness to Treyarch they did remove Quikscoping only for IW to put it back in.

Quick scoping is fun, they're not doing a military simulator, it's just a game, so I don't see the problem with it.
