So starting this up a little early due to Steven McLaren's FC Twente opening their Europa League already next week, the team has been back together for two weeks and should be prepared to overcome what is usually the average first round team from Andorra.
Should they manage to go all the way to the group stage they would be seeded in pot 1.

Luuk De Jong (Netherlands unused sub), Andreas Bjelland(Denmark, unused sub) and Emir Bajrami (Sweden, 1st half against France) who were in their respective Euro 2012 teams have yet to join the team in training and thus would be unlikely to field in the first leg.

The Enschade club has so far brought in 5 players. Andreas Bjelland (Denmark, FC Nordsjælland) Tim Breukers (Heracles Almelo) Felipe Gutiérrez (Chile, Club Deportivo Universidad Católica) Robert Schilder (NAC Breda) Dusin Tadic (FC Groningen)

    Eredivise 12/13 STAND

Ill provide updates on the other clubs tranfers and other possibly interesting events in the league when we get closer to the league premiere on August 10th, Ajax and PSV face off in the Dutch Super Cup (Johan Cruijff Schaal) on August 5th as a sort of League Opener.

Yes other than his 9th grade funny name, he has been a good asset for Vitesse, so much so that Netherlands national team coach had him up in the preliminary squad, however was never really considered a shot at the euro squad. Not sure if he is up to leave. Only missing 2 games for vitesse last season as they held 7th place just below the crowded top and well above the bottom half, he should be an asset to much lower end EPL teams.

Sounds promising, I saw a Dutch article earlier today saying he's flying over to the UK for talks with us. Fee of £2m apparently, surely Vitesse could hold out for more than that?

Yes. They have a good amount of money for an Eredivise club due to an investor from Georgia and were aiming to mix with the top as soon as possible, selling off one of the few good left backs Netherlands even have to offer would be silly for such a low amount.

    Just Twente though Bye_Ya!

Vitesse enters in the 2nd round, Heereenveen in the 3rd and PSV and AZ in the final and 4th round before group stage.

Seems he moved to Galatasaray and his career is OVER! No i kid of course of course! But surprised to see Heerenveen players leave, while Marco Van Basten could have been better when he was Ajax coach a few years ago (His man management was pretty crap, but he has changed) it should be interesting to see a dutch football legend take over this always talented team, they didn't need much more to be considered a real contender last season.

As for Feyenoord well, as an Ajacied it should be in my nature to hate every Feyenoord players especially the good ones, but putting that aside for a moment they have an interesting season ahead of them, the only thing i could maybe question is their attack as today John Guidetti is officially back for Manchester City, Cisse did well but Guidetti scored a lot of goals last season and especially against the top teams.
Clasie signed an extension not long ago, but i am sure there have been clubs poking around for him when he was awarded the Silver Boot at the end of the season. (Behind Jan Vertonghen, ahead of Christian Eriksen)

As for Ajax there was one of the early pre-season matches today, a lot of the young players mixed in with the senior squad saw the team go behind against SV Huizen, Frank De boer then made a few changes at half time which included NextGen Series star performers Davy Klaassen (Who already made his debut on the first team last season and scored) and Viktor Fischer. Klaassen quickly leveling the score, before a shot from Siem De Jong made it 2-1 and then Viktor Fischer put Ajax ahead with 3-1, his first goal with his first senior appearance. It will be very interesting to see who leaves and who gets to replace them during this season, none of the starting 11 have yet to sign with a new club, but with 2 months of transfer window coming up along with statements from Vertonghen and Van Der Wiel it would be highly unlike to see them go to Champions League with us come September.

A could of things happening, starting out with Twente who went through as expected to the 2nd round of Europa League with a comfortable although not huge 9-0 aggregrate. They will face Finnish team Inter Turku in the 2nd round where Vitesse also enters the tournament, they face Bulgarian team PFC Lokomotiv Plovdiv 1936.

I'll provide relevant transfer updates when the league properly commences, but will do some of the more significant ones as i see them.

Nicolas Loderio didn't get his contract with Ajax renewed and travels to Brazil to play for Botafogo. Ajax also got rid of Salery heavy huge money loss Mounir El Hamdoui who has signed with Fiorentina, while Wesley Sneijders little brother Rodney isn't following his big brothers footsteps but instead heads to RKC Waalwijk, he wasn't offered much of a chance at Ajax where his favorite spot currently is occupied by more talented and more experienced players (Christian Eriksen, Siem De Jong, Lasse Schöne, Theo Janssen, Thulani Serero with Viktor Fischer and Davy Klaasen being brought in from the A1)

AZ Alkmaar has bought Viktor Elm from Heereveen, most likely to replace his brother Rasmus Elm who has been hinting about transfers away from Netherlands.

PSV has brought in old man Van Bommel, Heerenveen sold their topscorer Bas Dost to Wolfsburg. Meanwhile Belgian club KV Mechelen has been shopping for danes in Netherlands, bringing in Roda JC Vice captain Mads Junker along with FC Groningen players Thomas Enevoldsen and Nicklas Pedersen, a move that has brought a bit of attention here at home, i think they are just trying to recreate the 80s where top danish players like Morten Olsen and Preben Elkjær roamed the Belgian top division. FC Groningen also sold Swedish Petter Andersson to danish side FC Midtjylland

Ajax recently appointed Marc Overmars as the new sports director, as well as Danish Kenneth Perez who is a eredivise living legend having played in several top clubs in his period in the league along with a handful of Danish national team matches, Perez will be the assisant of the A1 squad as his entrance to football coaching, he has been a tv pundit in the Netherlands and Denmark since he retired.

Ajax rumor: Barca kid to replace Vertonghen, http://www.goal.com/en/news/11/transfer-zone/2012/07/12/3236962/ajax-are-interested-in-barcelona-youngster-muniesa-confirms .

A few signings have been made lately which i will get around to during the week before it all really starts, but today the focus is the Johan Cruijff Schaal, The Dutch Supercup, this year the match is between title favorites PSV and Ajax.

The squads will be up later, of the last 5 meetings Ajax have won 2 and 3 were draws, 2 of those ending 0-0

Gregory Van Der Wiel and Christian Eriksen will not participate due to coming in later from Euro 2012 participation, the likes of Nicolai Boilesen and Miralem Sulejmani are still coming back from injuries. 3 players have a chance for their official senior debut as Viktor Fischer, Joël Veltman and Mitchell Dijks are included in the squad while Lasse Schøne can get his official Ajax debut.

Thats pretty poor, it was said his transfer was very close to being completed, they usually aren't this wrong about this in Netherlands. Latest rumor is that Ajax is making a move to get him back but also Fulham has some interest in him after PSV picked up Luciano Narsingh.

I am not sure i get the fuss though, he is not THAT good, and Ajax wants him to compete in one of the most crowded spots on the team, not the best career move i think.

In the same post as my mistake i made comment about Feyenoord who has traded one Manchester city Loanee John Guidetti for another in the form of Omar Elabdellaoui. He is the cousin of FC Copenhagen player MoS and Hannover 96 player MoA

I agree, but so is the case with a few other players Ajax has in that position, while he probably has to be sold as he probably doesn't want to extend his contract it would be be better in a club with less competition,at Ajax he would have a different kind of pressure both from the clubs and the several other players that can do the same. The possible Fulham move seems an interesting one but i can't say i would be against him coming to Ajax, just don't believe its what we really need to spend money on.

Ajax Squad for the Super Cup.
Opstelling Ajax: Vermeer, Van Rhijn, Alderweireld, Blind, Dijks, De Jong, Anita, Janssen, Özbiliz, Sigthórsson, Fischer.
Bench: Cillessen, Ebecilio, Klaassen, Schöne, Serero, Koppers, Veltman.

So that means Official Senior Debut for Fischer and Dijks.

PSV Squad for the super cup.

OPSTELLING PSV: Tyton, Bouma, Marcelo, Van Bommel, Toivonen, Strootman, Lens, Hutchinson, Mertens, Willems, Narsingh.
Bench PSV: Waterman, Matavz, Wijnaldum, Derijck, Van Ooijen, Depay, Ritzmaier.

Bit disappointing with no Mathias "Zanka" Jørgensen in the PSV Squad, he started their last warm up game.

The match will be played in the Arena with the roof on as theres a chance of thunder and rain.

3 youngsters in defense alongside the old (23) Alderweireld, it has not worked well for us. Should probably sign a new if we dont want to get hit with the same in a week by AZ.

I find it hard to blame the players for the 2nd goal only Van Rhijn can really follow Lens on speed, Blind lacks that and strength. However the first goal was just stupid.

Last year we dropped it on the floor completely, this year we were out played. Enormous defensive problems, Fischer and Dijks aren't ready to be starters in a big match like this it seems. On the other hand, PSV have spent nearly 8 times as much on transfers so far, so as my Twente friend said it would be embarrassing if they had not won this with the players they had available, they played a good match though. Also unsure if they get to keep Jetro Williams come September.

There is a lot of work to do, we may get hit with the same by AZ if haven't solved our problems. Our reserves play against Twente tomorrow hopefully a couple of those can support the first team from today.

It was PSV's Marcelo with the Own goal

Post by Muhkoo Mon Aug 13, 2012 8:51 am

It is time for the first Eredivise dump of the season.

The league started friday where Willem II returned to the top flight after a season in the 1st division, they met NAC Breda which was a tight affair between the two, while the promoted team ended up getting the first goal of the season it was quickly equalized by NAC's Anthony Lurling.

On Saturday then was the usual 3 match program and the first match from one of the favorites PSV who had opened their season with a victory over Ajax in the Super Cup. They have strengthen heavily bringing among others Mark Van Bommel and the former FC Copenhagen captain Mathias Jørgensen to the club as well as the EPL transfer target Luciano Narsingh. However it seemed that RKC's signing of the younger Sneijder brother, Rodney turned out to give a better result as RKC Waalwijk won the match 3-2 with 2 goals by Wesleys younger brother who was picked up from Ajax after failing to break into the team.
Heracles took on VVV at home which ended 1-1 in another close but average season opener game, nervy and many mistakes. The same could be said of Roda JC against the 1st division champions PEC Zwolle although some added drama with a double yellow for Roda's Mitchell Donald.

On Sunday there was a real late cracker, but first Feyenoord took on Utrecht and last seasons number 2 dominated the match with many chances before finally getting it over the line. The team is without a prolific striker for now but still have a few weeks to pick one up, although as mentioned earlier they picked up a Norwegian Loanee from Manchtester City who might solve that.
Anoter minor upset hit in the following match as NEC beat last years #5 Heerenveen 2-0 away from home, resulting in an early loss for Marco Van Basten's new season.

Meanwhile Twente took the top spot with a 4-1 Display against FC Groningen, their new signing Dusan Tadic scored 2 goals and put in an assist for a well deserved man of the match award in his league debut.
Vitesse continued their not so great form after some shaky displays in Europa League and then being beaten well by Russian Anzhi by drawing 2-2 with ADO Den Haag, Vitesse has a good influx of money and some big goals but seem to have a hard time getting closer to those.

Last but certainly not least Ajax faced AZ in the big opening weekend match. Ajax got ahead fairly quickly on a great shot by Gregory Van Der Wiel and for a while the relatively weak Ajax side looked like they could just as well go for another, half time came and a determined AZ squad hit Ajax hard within the first 3 minutes and it was 1-2 in the Arena made possible by Jozy Altidore. Ajax switched some around bringing in Theo Janssen (In possibly his last Ajax match) which helped get an 82nd minute equalizer from the foot of Kolbeinn Sigthorsson.

Some transfer stuff also happened as Frank De Boer confirmed before the match that Vurnon Anita just needs to fix a few things before his transfer to Newcastle is complete while Theo Janssen has a deal ready just needing to be signed with Vitesse, as it was made clear for Theo Janssen that he wasn't part of the future plans. Overall for me a very nervous start, the team fielded was not ready for a match against a top 5 team in the league and had AZ not been hit early it could have gotten just as bad as it was against PSV a week ago in the 4-2 Supercup loss.

    Results
    Willem II 1 - 1 NAC Breda
    RKC 3 - 2 PSV
    Heracles Almelo 1 - 1 VVV
    Roda JC 1 - 1 PEC Zwolle
    FC Utrecht 0 - 1 Feyenoord
    FC Twente 4 - 1 FC Groningen
    Vitesse 2 - 2 ADO Den Haag
    SC Heerenveen 0 - 2 NEC
    AJAX 2 - 2 AZ

Bit late with a round 2 dump, but didn't get to see much of the games except Ajax in the weekend so had to find somewhere to catch extended highlights to get an idea of how it went. It was a very hot round in netherlands, nearly every game being played in 30c+ which is not normal for the league so drinking breaks were put in around the 23rd minute mark.

First match of the weekend was Saturday when PSV bounced back, there really isn't much to tell as PSV dominated the match from start to finish and sent Roda JC home with a 5-0 whopping.

VVV started very well going one up against Utrecht, which was the last of the dominance they got in that match, Utrecht hit them back just before half time and came out with even more for 2nd half where they after a multi chance made it 2-1 and then 3-1 a bit after.

PEC Zwolle took on Vitesse at home in what became a tighter match than first expected, drama all the way through but not that many chances. Vitesse went 1-0 in the 63rd minute and when Zwolle got a penalty in the 90th it looked like a draw, a call for hands was taken by Bart van Hintum but he fired it way wide and the match ended with an away win for Vitesse.
The match with Twente against NAC were also dominated by the favorites, but unlike PSV Twente were not very clinical which they nearly payed for, the Enschede club should have been up 5-0 at the end but holding on to a mere 1-0 lead away from home saw NAC come very close to drawing at the end where the came should have been closed eons before.

The last match of the night was a top match between last years number 2 and 5, Feyenoord and Heerenveen. It was Feyenoords match to win, that is until returning Joris Mathijsen made a bad last man tackle from behind which gave him a direct red and Heerenveen a penalty which was taken securely to put them ahead 1-0 in Rotterdam. Feyenoord did bounce back for 1-1 but they should be disappointed overall as the match should have been theirs if they had been able to finish, 63-37% possession should speak for itself if there was any doubt.

Sunday opened even hotter than Saturday, in the first match Groningen saw 2 points that should have been theirs slip away, both goals came in the first half and the match ended 1-1 which was a misleading result seeing as Groningen had the ball 61% of the time and created more than twice as many chances, perhaps the hot weather took some of the strikers sting in this weekend as the story for several matches were missed chances.

The next game was in Den Haag, where ADO faced last seasons surprise package RKC. The match was dominated by ADO but it was on RKC's terms which ment that RKC went to 0-1 first, ADO hit back right after though and it was not until the 89th minute that RKC hit back, in normal circumstances that should be the end, but a lot of injury time let ADO get back in the game for 2-2 and nearly win it as well.

AZ Alkmaar had Heracles at home which saw AZ let Heracles control more of the match, but that didn't get in the way of a 3-1 victory for AZ. Altidore made it 1-0 after 16 on one he helped set up himself. AZ also went up 2-0 through Mertens on a well played goal, set up by Adam Maher. Heracles hit back for 2-1 late in the match and it looked like it could end in a draw, that was for a few minutes before Altidore made it 3-1. The 2 goals puts Jozy at 4 and he is top scorer so far. He really looks like he as finally found his place in the football world.

The last game of the weekend was the one featuring Ajax, this was a visit for NEC who probably would like to forget that ever happened. NEC started well testing Ajax young and inexperienced defensive lineup, but after 13 minutes it was 1-0 Ajax from Jody Lukoki. A couple of minutes later a ball from goalkeeper Vermeer bounced through to Christian Eriksen who made it to 2-0. NEC had missed a huge chance between the two goals, but timing was not there which ended up being their theme for the match. New Ajax swede Tobias Sana made it 3-0 shortly chipping the keeper after a bad first touch, the NEC defense were nonexistent in the first half, and the goalkeeper decided to follow them as Theo Janssen sent a bouncing shot at goal, which tricked the NEC goalkeeper to make it 4-0 in first half.
2nd half Ajax seemed let go a little, but quickly took control back. A long pass for Eriksen was lost in the box by him but Siem De Jong was quick with a tackle that sent the ball in the goal for 5-0. Ajax let go a little more and NEC hit one back much to the displeasure of Frank De Boer which caused quite the scene at the 2nd half water timeout. A lot of things were said (Eriksen was asked if he thought he was the only player on the field) but the message was clear De Boer wasn't happy, he is a winner and winners don't let opponents back into the fight( He may also remember when Ajax lost the championship with 48+ to PSV's 50+ goals big victories are important very important, just ask Sir Alex Ferguson Wink ). They came back on and shortly after a well played goal made it 6-1 by the foot of Tobias Sana, beautifully set up by Eriksen to Siem De Jong who made the assist. The match saw former NEC star-man Lasse Schøne put in 2 assists against his old club but never really getting close to scoring himself.

Twente are the leaders with 2 victories while Ajax are in 2nd with the best goal difference of the lot. After 2 rounds no team has 0 points and Roda are last after the heavy defeat against PSV.

Gertjan Verbeek has become the savoir of US Soccer. First, he molded Bradley at Heerenveen, and now, he is doing wonders with the previously unpolished Jozy Altidore. Here's to you, Mr. Verbeek.
